I haven't used FL Studio, but watching the videos on the youtube, it has many shiny and unusefull features.
A much simpler mixed (MIDI, Wave) editor could be more, than enough.
Unfortunately, this simpler kind of editor is also too much complicated to sit down on a bored afternoon and write one.

Maybe, to have a Jack like (virtual audio/MIDI routing on Linux) system could be usefull, because this huge work could be split down to tasks/developers!
