Its time to get bounties going again. I want to build a bounties site, a stand alone one.

I have the web server, just need some help with the donain name. Check out my WOW guild site at www.thedevildogs.org to get an idea of what I can do.

Donations (you can use my site to send them) would be a big help. $40 would secure 2 years. Let me know what you all think and I can get started right away.

Well with over 70 views I take it none of you think its a good idea. I will put it off a bit. Maybe after 2.0 comes out.

I think that another bounty site is an alright Idea... I also think it would be good to give it some more time & thought... I think many of us have gone dormant... at least I have... but as Mos 2.0 draws near... that spirit... that drew us here in the first place... will begin to glow again :-)

With Mos on Efika's... Mos 2.0... & Efika2's on the way... this place will be hopping again!!

As for the $40... do you need that for the domain name?

Okay I will work on a new site this week. I will register the name morphbounties.org for it.

The $40 yeah thats for the domain and adds a year to my hosting.

    Well. I think:
    - we need *a* working bounty system, it has done some good in the past
    - it needs to be run by someone who actually has time to run it, which
is obviously not the case currently.

It's been months and years waiting for the MZ system to get sorted, so
whatever the plans are, they don't *seem* to be happening. Still, we
really don't need two 'competing' bounty systems. So before you go
live, please please try to coordinate something?

I have sent messages to Targ and asked about moving to a new site and then we can link it from here or something. So it looks like its still on this this. It wont be bad. The last thing I had in mind was to make a 2nd site and still have this one. I want it all moved to the new one when its finished.

the bounty system can only work if there are coders to grab the challenge. Unfortunately there are not many MorphOS coders around, and most of them are already very busy. I don't think that having money sleeping on a website is a good thing, i've seen too many bounties opened and too few bounties closed.

Now about BootX, i think you should all forget about a BootX bounty. Do you seriously think it's a good thing to open an official bounty for a hack ? something that would be cool but illegal (running OSX on non-apple hardware). Those interested should contact the author and send him money or anything else directly, knowing what they are doing.

some dreamers should finally wake up.

Now Acill you got all my respect for your enthusiasm and devotion to the platform.

I think having only few coders makes it even more important to motivate
and help them to focus on projects users want.

I dont see it as pessimistic as you.
Apart from the officially finished sshCON, SFS Doctor and ezPM are practically finished.
MOSNet is used by many and last but not least Sputnik is making great progress.

The only bounty I am personally a bit sad about not being more advanced (public?) is ARexxPPC,
but CISC probably has more important stuff to do.

I would still like to see a XServer for Morphos (I know that is a controversial issue
cant wait to be told I dont know how X works again, lol)

    AOL (totally agree to that)

TBH, I don't like the idea of an external bounty site. Morphzone.org is a well respected, well known and well trusted place to host such service. Anything else is just far away from optimal.

    Hello,

IMHO, it's better to have 1 powerfull website than 1000 little/incomplete.

Okay I am holding off, I've been getting a lot of flak about making a site away from MZ. When I started the the ball rolling on getting a bounty site up the idea was to get it going so I could admin and edit the values. The current system does not allow me to do that. I run a xoops based site so I know how to edit modules. I dont see Tharghan allowing me admin access though.

If you all have a better idea then let me know. I do know that I wont be wasting hours of time to get a nice working bounties site up while everyone is arguing about it and you can just site and look and the current non updated one now. Enjoy!

True. We dont maybe need a new bountysite, but perhaps two eager persons taking care of the bounties-section we now have running.

Even with new bountysite you'd face the same problem: finding persons or persons to take care of the bounties.
Can you elaborate a bit why it would be more easier to setup a bountysite and find runners for it, instead of finding runners to take care of the current MZ-bounties?

Because I can admin it, and update the numbers. I cant do that now here.

As of now though I have to many against the idea so we can just hope Targhan will do it, or turn on admin for me in that module so I can do it like we planned on in the first place.

Sounds like pretty damn simple solution to me. And no way I am against a new site, I just cant see the point IF we can do the same at MZ.
