    The router can't be the reason since the problem occurs only with a couple of Mosnet versions, never with other stacks and no problem with early versions of Mosnet. I can't recall whether this happened with 1.0 or not, but 1.1 and 1.2 are positive.

    Huh... Can you start Snoopium and tell me what component asks for this?

    Q: Why is Miami: Assign needed?
    A: It is needed if you use some 3rd party MiamiDx panel like GelbesPanel. It is hardcoded to find some things in Miami:. Ask the author to update it. ;-) Of course MUI.MiamiPanel bundled with MOSNet is changed to look for MOSNet:.

    With V1.0 it was possible to quit mosnet using CTRL-C, although the shell would stay blocked (e.g. it won't return to prompt), it was possible to start mosnet a 2nd time in another shell which caused the first instance to return to prompt. This is not possible anymore with V1.2 and requires a reboot to restart it.

    This is especially annoying with BT which sometimes just causes mosnet to die on the network side and CTRL-C + restart in 2nd shell was enough to get it going again.

    Very weird. I haven't touched quitting code :) BTW, can you quit using Quit button on control panel or Remove command from Exchange?

    to copy them to the mui installation.
    BTW Installer does not work for me, it stops
    with an error.

    But now erverything is great, thx alot!

    Hello Sonic

    "Very weird. I haven't touched quitting code :) BTW, can you quit using Quit button on control panel or Remove command from Exchange?"

    i can't remove MosNET me too. Tryed with Scout Breaking and Removing bsdsocket.library and then NETTRACE as well....nada.

    Tryed quitting through Mui Panel...nada.

    Starting MosNET from:

    run <>NIL: MosNET:MosNET from User-Startup or simply double-clicking its icon.

    Not a great problem but it would be useful during fine tuning.

    :-)

    Thx for this new version of MOSNet which works great here :)))

    Though I can still not use "SpamFryer.rexx" with this version :( as there is still the error "Insert volume TCP" in any drive.

    Could that be fixed in any way?

    @ rms:
    TCP: device is a separate component. Well, i can change my roadmap from GUI to inetd and inet-handler (TCP: device) if people wish so.
    @ Framiga:
    1. What software do you use together with MOSNet?
    2. Check syslog, probably it reports something like "bsdsocket.library is in use" or "N internal processes are running". There must be a reason. Yesterday i've BREAKed MOSNet without any problems.

    Hmm, 1.2 does not work here with bittorrent. When I start bittorrent,
    it quits with an error 78 "function not implemented". This did not
    happen with Mosnet 1.0 (I never tried 1.1, I could test that if
    necessary).

    There's no output in mosnet log or analoguer. I've verified that I
    have the same settings for the 1.0 and 1.2 setup. Any idea what could
    cause this?

    usually Ibrowse and YAM 2.5 latest build (at least during this test) but before to try to quit MosNET, i shoutdown the above mentioned network apps. (and no i have no message in SysLog related to a running task)

    The only errors i get, are related to the NIC driver-i'll post the output). Remember that i'm on PowerUP with a 68K XSurf driver (patched to work with MOS)

    I'll try to remove MosNET after a fresh boot with nothing run/quitted.

    EDIT- you wrote:

    "There must be a reason. Yesterday i've BREAKed MOSNet without any problems."

    ok but, can you run it again? even here i can break it but then i can't restart it (TCP stack already running message)

    i have another little problem with IRC.

    "Lag From Server bla, bla..."

    as already said i'm using 32768 as send/receive TCP space.

    What do you think about? i'm trying now lower values.

    btw.... could you post ALL the available/accepted values?

    i.e the 1.0 accepted also

    MBUF_CONF MaxMem =2048
    MBUF_CONF ClusterSize =2048
    TCP_SendSpace = 32768
    TCP_RecvSpace = 32768

    Thanks :-)

    Edit- "seems" that lowering the SendSpace the IRC problems is gone. (without any speed dropdown)

    TCP_SendSpace = 16384
    TCP_RecvSpace = 32768

    i'm on ADSL 4Mb/256Kb connection.

    Thanks for noticing problem with IRC. I think i know what happens, this obviously happens because NODELAY option breaks with large buffers and small packets get delayed. Ok, when i get another portion of free time i'll investigate it.

    For some reason MOSNet is not any faster than MiamiDx, in fact, when browsing MiamiDX feels much faster. In Samba/FTP transfer they are on par.

    I did raise the send/receive values, but noticed only a small speedup.

    I am using the internal networkcard, will try with the Realcard later today if I have time and see how it will behave.

    MOSNet still is damn slow compared to MiamiDX here.
    But it is much more stable.
    Therefore I sometimes prefer the one or the other.

    IMHO it is really lame that a $2k + bounty was paid for a tcp stack that is noticably slower than the exsisting EMULATED 68k stack! :-x

    Can somebody please do a comprehensive speed test of Mos net vs Miami Dx and I will add a controversial 3rd test? :-? :-? :-?

    Come on now, you were not forced to pay into it. Also at least new users can get a native stack now and get online with MorphOS.That alone was worth it I feel.

    anyboby claiming that MosNET is slower than Miami and/or AmiTCP, has something really screwed-up onto his system :-)

    Well, at least (totally unlike MiamiDX) MOSnet is (legally) available, and free of (further than the bounty) charge.

    And it's not only about speed... There are also other things to consider, such as: (MOSnet's lack of) nasty backdoors (that MiamiDX has), stability, general functionality (at least here MiamiDX couses sometimes corruption in network transfers), and the mentioned availability.

    It's not too professional to tell new users to bear with the shareware version of MiamiDX or give them pirated keyfile...

    Thanks Sonic, it's a great step forward!
    Internet speed is pretty full now, and lan rates are
    much better than before (8M dld vs. 2M and 2M upld
    vs. 200K with smbfs). Maybe things could be improved
    furtherly but I'm satisfied with it now :-)

    Hi all,

    MaimiDX causes some Shell commands to fail. Mostly some ports of Unix/Linux,
    such as jhead and optipng; C:jhead failed returncode 161 I must quit MaimiDX
    to run the programms properly. MOSNet, i haven't installed it yet.
    Off course, i will do !
