    Hi Guys

A little while ago I proposed a UAE bounty, I submitted it to Targh and others, but apparently it wasnt verbose enough to get posted.

Not being a big UAE user, I'm not proficient enough to post the requirements for the Bounty. It would be really appreciated if you guys could help out with this one so we can get it off the ground.

It seems that Evil Rich - the guy working on it for OS4 has just released a new version with a nice speed increase. I'm looking for UAE to have the following:

    1. at least 040 speed so apps like PIxel Pro are usable.

    2. A nice GUI front end for configuration

    3. Good sound support and better aga support??

Any help is appreciated. I'm sure if we can get around $500 for this bounty that we will get a substantially improved UAE.

    Thanks for your attention
    Please post your suggestions/help here.

E-UAE 0.8.28 RC2 is nice. Only thing missing is a good JIT.
But doing a JIT is only for gods. Maybe there's gods here ;-)

For the GUI, I'm working on it (for free) so put no bounty on it please... I'll set a web page to put screenshots of the current state. I'm not sure but maybe I'll release an alpha version next week if you want to test it...
For the moment, It reads quite well uae's config files and set the GUI's elements. Then you can change some options and save it in a new or existing config file.
Next step is adding more options.

We may ask Evil Rich for lacking features on his version because e-uae isn't well documented...
As an example, floppy sounds aren't implemented on this version.
Of course, all jit options or gfx filters aren't on amiga's versions too. But a bounty on a jit for e-uae powerpc should be set alone with just saying "a jit that implements all winuae jit's options".

Since we're talking about seperate core/gui development, and you have the gui covered -- what else should be considered for the core? How much closer to the Windows version can we get it? Should we set it to a given version of euae or winuae?

Basic: Update E-UAE to a more advanced state.

Long: The current version of E-UAE while very good is still way behind the Windows version. The goal of this bounty is to bring it as close to the current Windows release as possible. Some must have features are PPC JIT, working Picasso 96, full AGA, good sound, working Ethernet layer, speed improvements to 68040, drive mapping from hard files and directories, and CD-ROM support.

Licensing: Freeware, will follow the current E-UAE license.

    @ thread

Thx guys for contributing. It would be cool if through this thread we can figure out what to put for the bounty. The sooner the better imo..

I dont think so since most of the code is done and just needs to be optimised for MorphOS. Jit maybe, but thats what we all want and if the person accepting the bounty is paid for it then lets have them do what we want. Thats why we have a bounty system in the first place. If they can do it on windows then they can do it for MorphOS.

Here is WHY I put so much in. I dont want the first person that decides to take this up go out and get the current build fab and others have done and then say here ya go! Its all done now after only a few minor changes. Look at what is being done in "ezTCP" and look at the price its fetching. People will pay for what they want.

    I'm very happy with E-UAE 0.8.28 RC1 release for
MorphOS. Now i finaly got P96 screenmode working
in 32 bit. Only bsdsocket emulation and JIT misses..
(With JIT enabled sound will be good also i think..)

I have the 0.8.28 RC2 verion also up and running on
my debian setup, it runs slower, starts slower, doesn't
have working 32 bit p96 modes, crashes occasionaly,
no sound, but does have working bsdsocket emulation.

I think AmigaSYS v2.0 selfextracting image sux,
i had to run QEMU with win98 to extract it, then
i got a badly unpacked .hdf file, now i have to
install winuae to be able to get the files from
the hardfile to my morphos uae drive eventualy.

Could someone compile the RC2 version ??

    Gr,
    Felix.

    Felix,

    try this build :

    http://fabportnawak.free.fr/uae/uae-0.8.28-RC2.1.lha

two versions are included : sdl version (supporting p96), and "native" version on which i added an overlay output (amiga.use_overlay = yes in config).

This native version doesn't support p96 yet, but feels faster, and allows window hw resizing. Maybe R.Drummond will add p96 support in a next version.

I think this ought to be coordinated with Richard Drummond.

He's been very supportive of ALL the platforms -- maybe the bounty should even be offered to HIM for whatever features you guys are looking for.

Personally -- the big one for me is the PPC JIT compiler (wasn't Bernd Meyer working on one?)

    <slime mode on>
Fab, i think i love you.
    <slime mode off>

The SDL version runs faster then the 0.2.8 i had :P
As for the non SDL version, it lacks P96, and used
to that you can't do without. :)

    http://www.attention-software.com/uae-0.2.8.rc2-sdl.mpg

Check out how fast it bootsup now :)
It's a little bit slower in the MPG then
realtime because i needed to run PIP
to create the MPG also.. (and ibrowse/dopus/etc..)

What about the bsdsocket emulation ???
    Would be great!

    Gr,
    Felix.

think acill summed it up well heres is what is needed for it to have

PPC JIT, working Picasso 96, full AGA, good sound, working Ethernet layer, speed improvements to 68040, drive mapping from hard files and directories, and CD-ROM support

    UPDATE

Just got a PM from "evil rich" the programmer who is working on uae for Os4...

    Quote:
Great work on UAE. Looks promising. Have you done a MOS compile of the newer ver?

Thanks. Yes. There'll be a MorphOS build of 0.8.28-RC3, which we be available in a couple of days.

Also, I am proposing a bounty for UAE on MOS please see:

Is there a chance to have JIT emulation in the foreseeable future? I know current JIT is x86 specific, but no one working on PPC version yet? It would be quite important for me to have it, to watch/write/test 68060 demos on my Peg. :-D

Well what we are trying to do is dictate a bounty for UAE for MOS - looks like we need JIT and bsd socket stuff.. also a nice gui and some extra frills like the floppy drive sounds and such...

This was Richard's comment about the JIT. It was on 25 May 2005.

    @TrevorDick
Is anyone working on JIT emulation for UAE?

    @evilrich
There'll be a PPC JIT eventually. I just need the time to work on it. Developing E-UAE doesn't pay the rent, you know.

Why not make this bounty for all PPC platforms instead? Richard has said that the PPC JIT will be used for OSX, Linux PPC, OS4 and MOS anyway. :-)
It will be easier to get a larger sum of money faster if we are more. :-)
You could make a post on some Linux PPC & OSX sites aswell :-)

Good idea. Don't know about Linux and Mac-guys.. but lads at Amigaworld.net would probably be interested in supporting Richard.
