    Understood. Is it because you are adding more useful things to Reggae?

    No. It is because I feel like loosing my interest in computers and programming in general.

    Shocker! Very sad to read that, Gregorz. Was it because of something specific you might want to share with us?

    Losing a programmer is bad news. Loosing a very talented one can be disastrous. Moreso when his work is a core part of our favourite operating system.

    No. I guess it is just a crisis of coming 40... I'm trying hard to keep smiling, but well...

    "When time begins its chase
    Just laugh in its face
    You've got another 40 years"

    (that's a lame translation of a punch line of a theme song from a popular Polish 70's comedy series: "40 years old man").

    Just don't give up. Please.

    Oh, that? I'm coming forty in some months too. Can anyone run a poll here to see how many of us are also forty year old blokes? You might be surprised... Or not at all!

    You know, guys, family men, long forgotten teenagers, support this thread and Gregorz by adding your "me too coming 40" here!

    Or, can that build a colective depression instead? Ouch... I'm going to the closet, to count my hairs again.

    Hi guys,

    Is it possible just to start bounty for the latest UADE2 port (reggae class or standalone application)?

    I think when bounty will receive the proper amount of money collected, developer who meet the task will appear.
    :-?

    A port to AOS4 is almost done! There's some small problems still.

    Yey! Good for them!

    I hope the source will be released. Maybe it will be much easier for anybody to build classes for Reggae.

    Maybe someone could help this guy?

    Thanks,
    K

    Oh, that's you! :)

    Unfortunately I'm only hello world developer so I can't help you.. :I

    Krashan says he has too much to do now, and he is unable to handle another project. However he is a great and helpful guy, maybe you should contact him with very specific question or issue.

    Seeing that there's now a TuneNet plugin for OS4, I've just come to think that an ANR plugin wouldn't be bad at all ;-)

    I can't promise the ANR plugin, but I could port UADE and the command line player if there's any interest :-)

    Yeah, a newer version than the existing v1.03 from 2005 would be nice.

    Here's a test version: http://wizard2k8.uw.hu/uade-mos.lha

    The MorphOS version of libao was broken, so I wrote an AHI backend for uade123. The interactive mode doesn't work yet, pressing any key will interrupt the playback. I used raw mode to handle the console input on AROS, but it doesn't seem to have any effect on MorphOS. Could someone enlighten me on this subject? :-?
    Before using the player create an UADE: assign. SystemTags() and PROGDIR: didn't mix well, it wanted to create a PROGDIR assign upon launching. Also note that CPU-heavy activity will result in hitches and interruptions in the playback. I could make the music stop completely by moving a window very fast without compositioning.

    Kuddos on the initiative and the port so far. For what it's worth you might want to try to get in touch with Piru, who did the initial uade port. Try irc #morphos :-)

    I uploaded a new version, which should be much more usable. I reverted back to named pipes for IPC. I only cooked up the message port layer for AROS, where PIPEFS: has some problems. Now moving windows won't distrupt the player much.

    I looked at uade 1.03's sources including Piru's patch, but lacks interactive mode too. I'm not sure if I should spend more time with fixing the command line player, or I should go straight to an ANR plugin. The latter might be more useful, since the CLI player is already in a usable state :-)

    Raw shell mode should just work - show us a code snippet and I can check what you're doing wrong.

    This is how it looks now:

    Code:

    #include <proto/dos.h>

    int poll_terminal(void)
    {
    char c = 0;

    SetMode(Input(), 1); // raw mode

    if (WaitForChar(Input(), 10))
    Read(Input(), &c, 1);

    SetMode(Input(), 0); // con mode

    return c;
    }

    Constantly toggling between raw & cooked mode like that will result in some key presses ending up to console instead of to your app (it can depend on timing and such). Any such input in console will block pending output.

    This could be your problem.

    In order to capture ALL key presses you must turn on raw mode, and keep it enabled for the duration you wish to read the raw input.

    Thanks, this was the problem! :-D Uploaded the fixed version. Now it's time to do an ANR plugin.
