    Hi Guys

I think it would be a great idea to get a UAE (or e-uae) bounty going so that we can have a faster and better classic Amiga emulation. Maybe with a few hundred bucks it may entice some devs to work on it more... what do you think?

I think that the objectives for such a bounty should be very well defined (like for any other bounty BTW).
For example do we want to have one instance of uea opened for each adf icon we double click ? Do we want a patch that would intercept accesses to the Amiga hardware and redirect it to uae emulation ? (if feasable)

There is already an UAE integration bounty for AROS so we have to know if what the users want is the same as what was defined over there.

BTW I heard that there is a great MUI UEA interface in progress.

I don't think so as I never run UAE. Any experienced UAE user would do a much better job than me at drafting a list of improvements / features / os integrations to be made.

Then of course a competent developer would have to check how realistic each of these would be.

I'm not fond of UAE intigration, but I would definately like a much better UAE than what is currently available. However, I seriously agree with cdfr, the definition of the bounty must be as well-defined as we can get it.

what would be nice (not that its neccisarily possible) would be to make it alot closer to winuae. As WinUAE has a nice gui and verson 1.0 is quite stable.

You are right. however, i dont know enough a bout uae to write up the text. Maybe a user here can do it or we can have some sort of combined effort.

All we need to do to figure it out is look at the one on windows winuae. See what it has that the one on peg2 does not and put up a list based off of that. Ive used the one on 3windows and it works awsome =). Well I guess I could try to make somethign up when my peg2 gets here its still soemwhere in the mail. SInce I have to leave town today to take my wife to standford hospital im sure today is the day it will arrive :-?

Yes It's me who is working on the e-uae GUI. Right now my own parser is working and I'm completing the GUI with more options. Maybe I'll release an alpha version before september. I'm using MUI in a fist time but I want to test Feelin on it after...
Right now, It's a front end and arexx will be used for features it supports (reset, ...). A complete integration is the goal but not in the first version.
e-uae is 30% quicker with the last cvs version but It's still slow sometimes on a G4. We lack a jit on powerpc versions. Using the morphos 68k jit may be difficult and I think It requires modifications... Or maybe we can use some morphos jit parts/modules. It's safe to ask a morphos developper first.
A bounty on a 68k jit for powerpc computers is a great idea. Gfxfilter is not implemented too.
Note that with the gtk->MUI wrapper e-uae should be compiled with its gtk gui too.

Very interesting so far. Like I said, we basically need two things to get a bounty going: a good description and a $30 initial donation (just sent to the general fund with a short note)

If I remember correctly Bernd Meyer stated in Moo Bunny that he may release his 68k JIT for PowerPC when OS4 final is released with full JIT emulation and the OS4 team has solved all JIT problems.

It seems he doesn't want that the OS4 tema can see how he solved some JIT problems (they don't seem to get on well). Although the code is different and Petunia is written in asm and Bernd Meyer work is mostly in C checking Bernie code may help them so I guess we'll have to wait.

When OS4 is released a skilled developer (maybe Richard Drummond?) should get in touch with Bernd Meyer to fix the latest bugs (there won't be many bugs, as you will remember Bernd ran the entire OS3.9 with P96 emulation in his modified UAE) os his JIT and release the improved UAE.
