I was told aproximately 3 weeks, Even if the delivery date slides by a week or few(3-4) I will not be dissapointed. And Yes I will definetely post a review, Here first then maybe Aorg.
I still haven't seen a Peg in action, so my review will be coming from a true novice... as it is I haven't used Aos regularly since 2000. I am anxious to make Mos my maine operating system :-) :-)

    Hey all,

It took more than three weeks ;)
but now I have my Pegasos II from Ultra-Spec!!!

After a few false starts, and a little patience My PegII is running in its beautiful Nexus case!!!

Although I haven't figured out How to set the setenv variables to autoboot from the harddrive yet? any pointers beyond what the manual says?

@ Targhan - I will stick to my promise of a full review, What format should I send it in? as pictures will be brief, my digital camera is lame.

Now can anyone help me get Miami running? :-D :-D

The Morphos/Pegasos combo is better than i thought it would be.

Thank You Morphos Team, bplan, Genesi, & Ultra-Spec.

Welcome aboard! :) My being 'pleased' with Peggy is an understatement.
Peggy is turning into an obsession with me...I haven't had feelings
like this since I got my first A500 System back in 1987 or so!

I think that you'll enjoy using the Peggy a lot!

I have ordered one too (but from Genesi's website), there was no indication of how long it'll take though :-(

A few weeks after I get, and I've had the chance to play with it a bit, it I'll write a review and maybe try a few performance tests in comparison with my Athlon 2800.

    Hello Smithy,

    Two questions:

When did you order your PegII thru Genesi? From what I know you are correct in thinking a few weeks :-)

    Also:

what applications do you intend to compare between the two platforms? I currently use a PIII 500mhz, Sgi Indy R5000 @ 180mhz, and of course I dug up my A3000 @ 25mhz.

Their is so much desparity between the systems I thought it would be very difficult to review straight performances. What I intend to write in my review is more about the process that led up to me buying my Pegasos, my dealings with Ultra-Spec, and My experience with the installation process.

I will be interested to see how your system compares to the Athlon.

    Good luck.

Congatulations! You will soon be a Pegasos2 owner. They are nice machnines. Genesi always delivers on ordered boards and very well packaged and supported!

Magnetic: Woudl it be fair to announce on your Signature that you'll work at Genesi marketting Dept?

I know that a lot people do know this, but just in case.

    Hi katos1,

    >When did you order your PegII thru Genesi? From
    >what I know you are correct in thinking a few
    >weeks

I ordered it a few days ago. I think it'd be a good step to inform buyers of an expected delivery date... especially for the benefit of new users from outside the Amiga/MOS community who might not be aware of any delays.

    >what applications do you intend to compare
    >between the two platforms?
    >[...]
    >Their is so much desparity between the systems I
    >thought it would be very difficult to review
    >straight performances.

I was planning to write a few small programs that allocate a large chunk of memory, then do some timings on some huge read and write operations. So just memory tests really - no graphics or frame-rate comparisons. You are right that it is difficult to make fair comparisons; especially as they'll both be running different OSes - but I figure that memory processing is the most basic form of computing that everything does so might be the fairest unfair comparison! I'll try RC5 or other number crunching programs too.

    >I will be interested to see how your system
    >compares to the Athlon.

Yeah... I'd expect the Athlon machine to be miles faster, but I imagine that Windows XP memory management is much more complex than MOS's so that may slow it down somewhat.

I'm not trying to compare hardware anyway, just the end performance what the user sees through the OSes.

    Cool,

Good to hear your plans, and Ideas. Yes I believe the next batches will ship at the end of the Month/early Feb., but I believe BBRV will be making an announcement(s) later this month which should add clarity to the situation. :-)
