MorphOS 3.3 Install Can't See HD

    Hi all,

    I've downloaded and booted the MorphOS 3.3 CD and am able to select Language, Keyboard and Timezone.

    When it comes to formatting and partitioning the HD it is not listed as a drive.

    I have also tried the Format command in Ambient and that doesn't see the 40GB HD I newly installed.

    If I can't get this 40GB HD to be visible as to format then I can always replace the 20GB HD that was in but would rather have the extra space.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

    I have an iBook G4 14" Model no: A1062 with 1gb memory

    Which initially had a 20gb IDE HD which I installed MorphOS 3.2 on which I have replaced with a 40gb IDE HD (not recognised by the system but known to work).

    Have the harddrive been partitioned yet? That could cause why Format does not see the drive. Use HDConfig if not and try again.

    Have just tried HDConfig and it says no storage media found, so I can only think the HD is broken

    Double check if cable is properly connected and right way. Can you hear it spinning up? Is there jumpers and is it jumpered correctly?

    Definitely the right way up, checked pins when taking old one out, no spinning up noise, no jumpers

    @all

    Sorted, found a 60gb IDE HD and installed MorphOS 3.3 on that, just got to put the 14" iBook G4 back together.

    So many bloody screws.

    Got it back together but the screen is black however the computer does boot as I can hear the HD spinning up and the caps lock works on the keyboard.

    Not quite sure what I could have done

    Sounds like a loose video cable.

    Any idea where that's located on an iBook G4 14"?

    Really could do with it working, this 12" ibook is just too small.

    Oh. My. God.
    And I thought the Powerbooks were overly fiddly to disassemble. Replacing the screen in a 14" iBook is a bloody nightmare.

    @1mouse

    If you have the 1,42GHz model the display data cable connection is near the hard-drive, next-to or beneath the airport card. That would be the most likely one given that you'd been replacing the hard drive recently.
    The inverter cable is on the other side of the logic board near the optical drive.

    I have the 933 MHz model and I've tried my best to get it working but I think all hope of me getting it working again is lost.
