Hello all! It's been exactly one year since I packed my MacMini MorphOS 3.1 to relocate to my new place, and yeah...I'm up an running.

Of course the first thing I'm trying to do is to update from 3.1 to 3.3 via iso image in CD, but I'm getting the following message: MorphOS boot img version is too old. In order to boot from the MorphOS CD type boot/pci/cd to the open firmware prompt.

But the thing is that I don'r see or I can't find that prompt. Do I need to update from 3.1 to 3.2? Or could anyone guide me how to solve this issue?

I just replaced the boot.img from the CD to the boot partition. Can't remember off hand what folder it is in on the CD install. Suppose you could just kill the boot.img by deleting the file off the boot partition like I did, then proceeded to boot the CD from startup.

    Thanks doffo.

Could anyone remind me what is the folder that contains the boot.img file?

Is that the best route to be able to boot from the Boot CD in case, updating from 3.1 to 3.3?

There's a simpler way to update, you don't have to do anything manually.
As it was explained in a recent thread, you have to boot to the MorphOS 3.3 CD by keeping the "CMD" or "ALT" key at startup then select (click on) the CD as boot drive at the openfirmware boot screen. It will boot the MorphOS CD then you update normally using the MorphOS installer.

The fact that you have a message saying the boot image is too old is that you boot from the "boot.img" file from your HD then it continues booting on the CD.

It's in MorphOSBoot:mac_ppc32/ but if you put the cd in the drive and reboot whilst holding down the 'c' key it should boot from the cd and you can then launch the installer from the welcome screen.

Considering that everyone who has serious problems updating seems to do it the wrong way should take it as a hint to just burn a CD and do it the recommended way ... Seriously, it's very very easy that way and no risk damaging anything.
