    I have been following a thread step by step to make the ambient desktop act more like the amiga desktop.
    Everything is going fine. I turned off browser mode and I can snapshot windows.
    I get a new windoww for each folder opened.

    However, The default view mode is ignored.
    Here is a pic of my settings:

    I keep getting only folders with icons. Folders with no icons are not visible.

    That's because your root drives are probably snapshot in icon/icon mode. The snapshot data overrides the default view/mode option.
    So either delete the disk.info of these drives or snapshot it in the desired mode.
