Any chance in hell a powermac 7,2 will work?
The ebay seller advertised a 2.5ghz dp setup.

This thing at my door step is a single core 1.6ghz powermac 7,2.
brand new condition, but wrong computer.

I doubt it will work, but there's no harm in trying to boot a 3.2 CD is there?

    One more question.
    I have two 2ghz heatsinks/cpus sitting here.
This motherboard only holds one cpu.
Could I drop a 2ghz cpu in and would it be a powermac 7,3?

Most likely not I imagine. The firmware will probably be different and the motherboard too.

You might blow something if you try it.

Contact the seller post-haste and demand a full refund. If the seller doesn't kiss your butt royally right off the bat, file an ebay dispute.

That does NOT sound like an easy thing to screw up.

Yes, it was AS IS, but I don't think AS IS means if I buy a broken computer you can ship me a ROCK in a BOX instead. You have to ship a broken computer.
This is no where even near what I paid for.

    The sellers response:

Really, GEEZE.. So Sorry, Let me try to get a hold of another guy that bid and see if he wants it. That is what the listing said when I bought it. :(

The Kentucky Derby museum is selling their G5.
I live across the river from Louisville, KY and can pick it up.
They want $199 buy it now.
    Here is their ebay item:

You are looking at a Apple G5 Mac (PowerMac 7,3) that has been used by the Kentucky Derby Museum for the past few years. It is in fine working condition but was recently replaced with a newer model. The computer has licensed versions of Adobe Creative Suite 3, Microsoft Office 2008 and Toast 6 Titanium already installed and ready to go. Those licenses were left on this original Mac and we bought new licenses for our replacement Macs. This auction is just for the computer and the power cord (no keyboard or mouse included). The computer will be shipped in the box of the Mac Pro that replaced it (so don't get your hopes up when you see it), or you can avoid shipping charges by picking it up locally in Louisville, KY within seven days of the auction close. Here are the specs:

    Mac OS 10.4.11 (Tiger)
    Dual 2.3GHz PowerPC G5 Processors
    2.5GB RAM
    240GB Hard Drive
    Adobe Creative Suite 3
    Microsoft Office 2008
    Toast 6 Titanium
    Mac G5 ISight 21" 2.5 gb of ram 233gb hd matshita dvd-r uj-846
    Powerbook G4 1.67ghz 2GB, ATI 9700M Pro 128mb
1TB hd, DL-DVD Burner, Netgear pcmcia wireless card.

    I am confused.
I have a guy on ebay with a powermac 2.7ghz but he claims it has an nvidia card.
According to everymac.com there was only one 2.7ghz model and it had an ati 9650.
    :-(
Not sure I would buy it.

The video card could have been swapped, or it is possible that some G5 PowerMac's were ordered with different video cards from Apple when they were new. I don't know which video card options were available when they were first sold. If you can get it for a very good price, you can always find a supported ATI Radeon video card for it to make it MorphOS3.2 compatible.

I have a nice R400 based Radeon in my G5 that I got from Jim, but might install an R300 based video card, so I will have 3D support from MorphOS3.2, instead of waiting and hoping for R400 support to come at some later date.

    Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I see.
Well, he wanted $259 with shipping and the one from the kentucky derby museum was $199 (didn't have to pay shipping).
It benchmarks way beyond anything my powerbook g4 can do so I went with it.

A think a good idea for anyone buying a Mac to run MorphOS is to ask the seller for screenshots from About this Mac and System Profiler.
