3.2 Installation Problems

I still don't seem to be able to get 3.2 to install on my Mac Mini (1.5 GHz /64MB VRAM).

How long should it take? 3.0 and 3.1 updates only took around 5 mins, but 3.2 takes well over half an hour so far, it takes so long that the trial from the CD times out and it crawls to a snail's pace.

The time I tried to upgrade it took around an hour and I left it and went away, came back and got an SFS error saying DH1: was in an invalid state. I've tried to repair it with SFSDoctor but it couldn't repair it.

So I've reformatted the drive and thought I'd install from scratch, it's been Copying files from the cd for 40 mins or so now so has slown down due to the trial timing out.

Did it take this long for anyone else?

I had similar problems. So I installed 3.1 with an external USB CD reader. That worked fine.

But when I tried with 3.2 it didn't work at all so I had to use my very slow internal CD reader. But that worked when I upgraded since it took less time than a full install. That is, not a full 30 minutes.

So maybe you should try the same: use an USB CD reader to install 3.1 and then upgrade to 3.2 with the internal.

How odd, the only external drive I have is an old XBox HD-DVD drive but it works fine as a DVD/CD reader under Windows, so I'll give it a try.

Well, my CD reader is also a DVD/CD writer so it should work fine :-)

Sadly it went from bad to worse trying that, it started the process from my HD-DVD drive then asked me to keep inserting MorphOS-Boot, upon changing back to the internal drive it just locked up.

Now my DH0 and DH1 partitions are wiped and I'm just left with a Mac face in a folder with a ? over it, and don't seem to be even able to boot from the CD anymore when I hold down Alt... !

I'm going to try burning a new CD now, is there anyway to reinstall DH0 and DH1 but leave my DH2 partition untouched (all my personal data etc.).

Shame this has totally trashed my system, every other update has been so simple :-/
