    I have a volume that is 127gb.
I cannot format it with ntfs3g:

    2.HD:Devs/DOSDrivers> mkntfs -f kr0 512
Device is too small (255kiB). Minimum NTFS volume size is 1MiB

I removed the encryption and tried to format using the device assign name:
    2.HD:Devs/DOSDrivers> mkntfs -f usbscsi0.2 512
Device is too small (255kiB). Minimum NTFS volume size is 1MiB.

    Any ideas?
    :-D

    P.S.
I instlalled ntfs3g and FUSE using Grunch.

Try without the "512" part . No idea what that is supposed to achieve.
And always give the device name, not the volume name.

That worked, but it did not work earlier. Not sure why.
    >mkntfs -f usbscsi0.1

The 512 is the optional number of sectors.
I used mounter to create a mountlist and dropped it into devs/dosdrivers.
On reboot the drive is there but it says there is zero bytes free.
I am trying a long format....

Also, sometimes on reboot the drive comes up as usbscsi0.2.
    This makes this mountlist fail.

If it says zero bytes free thern it is the built-in ntfs filesystem of morphos that is active.

    No need to use mountlist.
You can use the automatic mounting as described in the readme.

    Automatic mounting

Example System settings / Mount options:

    --------------------------
    MBR Type: 7
    Filesystem ID: 0x4E544653
    Driver: L:NTFileSystem3G
    Buffers: 32
    Mountpriority: 5
    Control: noatime

    ---------------------------

    Additionally, under MorphOS 3.x, Edit
    Sys:Prefs/Env-Archive/sys/filesystems.conf
    Change the line
    DosType=0x4e544653 Filesystem="L:NTFileSystem" Name="NTFS"
    Into
    DosType=0x4e544653 Filesystem="L:NTFileSystem3G" Name="NTFS"

    ok, all is working now.

I could not format using the mkntfs tool that came with ntfs3g even though it said it did format.
I hooked the drive up to windows and it said it needed to be formated so I did and put it back in the amiga and it worked.

I was using truecypt so I did need to format the assign kr0 and not the device. formatting the device blows away the encryption. I know, I tried it.

When partitioning or formatting and using kryptos always perform the operation on the kyrptos volume which by default is kr0:.
So it hurts my feelings none that windows had to do the formatting.
I have an encrypted volume that is formatted with ntfs and is using the ntfs3g read/write filesystem driver.
Not sure why the mkntfs command couldn't get the job done.

I have been on a quest ever since I bought an Efika, then a Quickcilver and now a Powerbook to make the Amiga do everything I do on the Windows machine.
I am nearing the end of my quest.
Would be nice if I had OpenOffice.
I understand that there was a Word Processor that had support for Microsoft documents.
    Anyone remember the name?
