Thankyou Tchecko for Hotborders 1.1 - this commodity does exactly what I wrote above - allows maximising to a pre-defined area (through the use of 'screen padding').
In addition it also enables quick resizing & tesselation of windows to 1/4 and 1/2 of the defined area.
This is a 'must have' utility imho, and it would be good to see it become part of the MorphOS distribution.
