    Hi all.
thanks to the moderators/owners of the site for welcoming me on here!!!
i have gone and got myself a powerbook g4, 17" 1.67ghz with 2gb of ram, it was an absolute bargain! And in very good condition too.
I now feel ready to take the plunge and put morphos on this machine...
And i am asking the best burning speed for the cdrom blank disc. is it the slower the better (4x)???
Once it has been burnt sucessfully, can i then just explore the morphos disk, before i copy it to the harddrive on the g4?
    kind regards Lee...:-D

Many PowerBook drives show problems with CD-R media, so I'd just recommend that you burn the iso on a DVD-R.

You can boot the ISO and use a full system without installing.

    Hi Flea,

    Welcome to Morphzone!

The MorphOS .iso should burn ok at any speed, but slower burning may help to minimise any errors from poor media or faulty hardware.

You should run the wizard to install rather than copying the contents of the CD across to your hard drive.

Booting the Powerbook from CD will boot into MorphOS itself (and open a welcome screen from where you can choose to run iWizard to install MorphOS to your hard drive), although it's a fairly basic environment before you flesh it out with applications etc.
Also, any changes to settings, network configuration etc will not survive a reboot until you've installed the OS to hard-drive.

    Regards

    Rich

    EDIT: Jacadcaps types faster.. :-)

    wow! it's very very fast...
i'm using it now on the powerbook! the trackpad on the machine is a bit skittish, it actually prefers my left middle finger, rather than the right. But so far i'm very impressed with how sharp and speedy it really is...
looks like i'll be registering it soon!!!
    cheers Lee. :-D
