    Hi there,

    i work with my PowerBook 15" with internal LCD resolution 1280x854, but when i tried to connect it to external LCD with 1680x1050, i realised, there is no monitor settings tool to setup a custom resolution (and ofcourse the 1280x854 wasn't displayed correctly).

    Any advices? Thanks in advance.

    Bye, MarK.

    For Powerbook - Monitor preferences are disabled in MorphOS preferences, you can still start it manually, no point of doing so, though. External monitor doesn't work properly even when the internal one is disabled. It might work ok just for 1280x1024 resolution, but then you need a monitor with a 1280x1024 res obvioulsy.

    There is no support for arbitrary resolutions on the external vga/dvi monitor connector for PowerBooks yet. This will be addressed in a future update of MorphOS3.

    Most of important functions like 3D acceleration, wifi, PCMCIA, support for external monitor, and ... is addressed to future updates. Where they are?

    @DedyAmigo,

    The work required to complete support for basic G4 PowerBook features took the MorphOS Dev. Team over 2 years to finish, just so they could release the most basic of G4 PowerBook support and here you are complaining that new features haven't been released yet, just a few months after the initial release of G4 PowerBook support?

    Give them a chance to complete these new features you want, or get started programming yourself and see how long it takes you to complete these new features you want.

    I'll place my bets on the MorphOS Dev. Team getting the new features finished first.

    @Jadacaps,

    I could really use support for the external monitor DVI port on the G4 PowerBook for my presentation at the 2012 AmiWest Show, so if there is any way of moving the priority for that feature to the top of the list of new features that the Team is working on, I would really appreciate it.

    I want to play 3D games on my Powerbook, so if there's any way of moving the priority of graphic drivers I would really appreciate it.

    Actually being serious for a moment, I'd have said a laptop with wirless cards built in with no wireless was the main issue with the MorphOS on the Powerbook. But I'd imagine in this case solutions are achieved in the order of difficulty, not the order of priority

    I agree that support for the internal AirPort Extreme cards in the G4 PowerBook's, should probably be one of the highest priorities on the MorphOS3.2 "To-Do List", but since there are so many different wireless solutions that work with any MorphOS compatible computer, and I already own two of these devices, support for the internal AirPort Extreme is not as high on my personal list.

    I hope that once they do begin working on support for the AirPort Extreme, it will not be too difficult to also support the original internal AirPort cards as well as the AirPort Extreme, as I was able to remove the AirPort card from my long dead 1GHz G4 Titanium PowerBook and place it into my G4 MDD PowerMac tower and it works well under MacOSX. The original AirPort cards use the Prism2 device drivers, so there is a chance that Neil Cafferkey's old Prism2 driver could be adapted to provide support for the original Mac Airport cards, but only Neil, or other MorphOS Dev. Team members would know how much work is required to adapt the Amiga Prism2 driver so it could provide wireless networking support for any MorphOS computers that can accept these original AirPort cards, like my MDD G4 PowerMac, and maybe the G4 eMac's, which I think have the same AirPort slot inside of them and can accept the same Airport cards.

    His old Prism2 driver (v1) could probably even run unchanged if MorphOS was enhanced accordingly:

    I hope that his newer Prism2 driver (v2) could be adapted to support AirPort under MorphOS as it supports WPA/WPA2.

    Ah yeah, that old mystery again ;-)
