G4 powermac. On occasion when booting up, the system seems to hang at a grey screen. I can do the soft reboot from the keyboard, so MOS is responding, but nothing displays on the screen. If I reboot it usually sorts itself out. Any idea what gives?

I get that on a odd rare occasion here with my Quicksilver 2002. As long as it is not a MDD and only rarely, I would not be terribly concerned.

    runequester,

From what little I know it seems the MDD is a little more prone to this. I have a MDD that I bought as dead, but it does work good after an extensive warm up period of multiple reboots. Google seems to suggest MDD is more prone to startup issues than other models.

well, I can live with that I suppose. It does seem to be worse when booting up cold.
