I just set up MorphOS's VNC server on my Mac Mini together with TightVNC viewer on a Windows 7 machine.

This is the first time I have ever used VNC so I don't know what's reasonable to expect speed wise? However, speed is *terrible* for me, very far from what I see on Youtube on various platforms, including iphones over wifi networks. Like 10-15 seconds to simply move a window, etc. I know that a G4 isn't very fast by todays standards, but I wonder if there is a problem somewhere, and what I can do to improve things?

I am using en ethernet lan, 1280 x 720 16-bit screen with all "enhancements", bells and whistles turned *off*.

Hmm, actually the CPU doesn't seem to be the problem, very far from it...

There's a known issue with our Mac network driver, causing slow upload rates on some configurations.

    Figures... :-/

This was the first real massive network application I used with my Mini, so I never noticed before...

I have tried the TwinVNC with my Pegasos2/G4 and MacMini/G4/1.25 only via local network, and it worked quite well. I can test it more, but sometimes I also have issues with network speed (not when tested the VNC)...

Actually, it's not necessarily a network driver issue. I control my mac mini from work over inet, and i still get over 5-10 fps when moving a 640x480 window, for instance.
But, i noticed the performance depends a lot on the client, actually:
with realvnc/tightvnc on windows, it's quite terrible, while it's snappy with linux vncviewer.
And from work, i actually first connect to a vnc server to my linux machine at home, which connects itself to the mac/peg on MorphOS, and it's really fast enough. The issue is more about some particular keys sometimes with french layout.

I found it more or less unusable on my mac mini and windows 7

As i said, windows clients perform very poorly with vncserver, somehow.
