I had been talking to him on here about purchasing his Blizzard PPC for my A1200. I sent him the money via Paypal, he told me he was on his way to mail it out...

...and I have not heard from him since.

It's been a little over two month. I expect shipping from Hungry to take a while, bit the fact that he has not communicated with me, let alone made a post here since then, has me a bit concerned.

If I get ripped off, I'll have to say that this is a first from an Amiga user. Generally they are all trust worthy.

    Absolutely X.
    Listen to the man.
Even shipping to a from Australia doesn't take two months (and that's the place that's taken my the longest to get a package to).

    Buyer protection, dude. NOW.

Sad to hear that you might have paid for something that has not arrived in two months. I have heard that shipping packages into and out of some countries is very difficult, or unpredictable.

It could be that he has a good reason for not being online recently to answer your questions, or emails trying to contact him. There might be a combination of events that has kept him offline and the package might have been lost or stolen during it's travels from his place of residence, and your home.

I agree with the other two members who said you should file a claim before it is too late. If you paid through PayPal, they should refund your money if the package does not show up. You might be close to the deadline of when you can file the claim, so don't delay.

You wait 2 months for a package ? I wish my buyers on Ebay were that patient. In my opinion you're already waiting 6 weeks too much.

So as the others tell you, file the complaint now. I hope you weren't that stupid to pay him the money as a "gift" in paypal. Something what seems to be common practice on Amibay... dangerous

    Oepabakkes,

It's one thing I wont do, far to many people that try to get your money for nothing now.

Not just on amibay, I've noticed a lot of people wanting payment as a gift also noticed as the person sending payment as a gift now, they have to pay the fees.

Hopefully you haven't been burnt XDelusion, but as the rest say 2 months is a very long time.

The problem is that I sent this as GIFT so that I could accept the Paypal fees instead of Saddam.

He told me he was having money problems, so I scrambled up the money as fast as I could and sent it to his friend's Paypal account on good faith.

I have never been ripped off by an Amiga user, in fact this community has been very good to me for as long as I have been a user. I've gotten some really good deals and have sent large amount of money across seas before, all on good faith. In fact I have even received some expensive gear totally for free, so it's really sad to see things backfire this time. If this had not been a $500 dollar deal I wouldn't be so upset.

    As expected...

    From Paypal:
"We're sorry, but this transaction cannot be disputed because it is not a purchase of goods or services. Please contact the recipient directly."

Next time I'll have them send me a bill or what ever so it is track-able.

Looks like I'm out $500, my 1200 is not going into a tower any time soon, and my mediator is going to collect dust.

Not looking good. Try posting messages on all the other Amiga related websites and you might find one person who knows him and can track him down and ask when the package was shipped, or if it has been shipped.

If you are lucky, Saddam has had some kind of problem that has prevented him from shipping it yet and his computer has died and he has been unable to go online for the last 2 months. I know he could have gone to a friend's place to use another computer to contact you, but if he is having problems, he might have other things on his mind that are taking precedence at the moment.

Keep thinking positive and just try to find him every possible place you can. Maybe you will get lucky. If not, at least you tried.

Sorry to hear about this, but Amiga users are just like everyone else and you cannot grant trust to all of them, just because they used an Amiga at on moment in their lives.

I'm not going to get my panties in a knot...

Maybe things will turn out well in the end. Will keep my fingers crossed.

In the mean time I e-mailed the owner of the E-mail address I sent the Paypal payment to.

I have problems, need money, want to sell fast, send money as a gift to my friend ... sure.

He mention a website in his profile that isn't off-line: http://pollen-records.uw.hu and another email pollenrecors@vipmail.hu

Maybe you can get his real name that way ?

That is the spirit. Stay positive (until you are sure and have some evidence that he is trying to avoid you and avoid his responsibility).

You won't know for sure what went wrong until you can get in contact with the guy, so keep trying.

Terrorist? No, just not a fan of the established disorder and westernism in general.

Him and I were having a great discussion on this very subject, which is part of the reason I was shocked to see him vanish all of a sudden, and for 2.5 months at that.

    According to that Facebook page.

    "born February 28th, 1905"

I think he probably died from old age. ;-)

#1 Whoa, $500 is a lot of money. Maybe Sadddam will still deliver the goods, though it is late. I recall reading him here and there, and had a not-negative impression of him.

#2 Very cool of ChainQ to personally interlocute.

#3 I disapprove of the public posting of non-public, personal, social network profiles, but looking at it for a moment, it seems to be a public, non-personal one. He should probably shield his friends, which was possible in the Facebook configuration options when last I checked.

    #4 @oepabakkes, LOL!
