I would like to know if Dir-Opus Magellan II is fully usable under MOS 1.4.

Here never used Ambient, only Opus Magellan for months!!
If you want to use it as your desktop manager instead of Ambient remember to copy in libs: the old icon.library from WB3.9 and to deactivate in Magellan settings -> Miscellaneous the gadget "Mouse buttons over inactive banks".
Naturally forget png icons in Magellan desktop!
Ah, a last suggestion: setenv envarc:dopus/workbenchtitle 1

P.S.Hey Gerber when listers will be finally ready in Ambient? As you can see I'm not the only one that needs them..
