I am thinking of getting a MacMini G4 machine for MorphOS and I have a couple of questions :)

1. I know there are MacMini machines with 32mb of VRAM and others 64mb.... While I'd assume the 64mb version is ideal, are there real advantages to get a 64mb machine, for MorphOS usage?

2. Is there anything else I should know? (dunno things like bugs, compatability issues etc).

All complaints I hav ever seen concerning Macmini were about networkspeed and soundvolume ... both are more less easy to solve if encountered if I did understand that well.

About the VRAM ... it depends on what you call " a real advantage ". If you don't use any eyecandy there is no advantage. Otherwise I would really suggest you get that 64Mb VRAM one.

Hmmm interesting. Maybe someone else knows a bit more about the network speed + sound volume issues?

What specs please? How much Video Ram?

Personally, while the compact form of the Mac Mini is attractive, I'd look for a Powermac.
Its more expandable and you can install faster processors, sound, video, and USB cards, etc.
And you'll probably pay less for a Powermac.

Unfortunately space is a big issue, and well Macmini is more portable =)

Yes, at about 40 pounds the Powermac is somewhat bulky.

MorphOS 2.4 had a bug where only 32 MiB of the 1.5 GHz version's 64 MiB VRAM were used by MorphOS under certain circumstances. I was experiencing this bug back then and it really caused issues with my config (enhanced display, 1680*1050 resolution at 32 bit depth, several screens) such as crawling graphics update.

I did notice a difference between my 1.42gHz and 1.5Ghz macmini, but only when I was using more than 1 screen.

Personally I'd advise getting the 64gb version, other peoples milage may vary etc etc.

Also if you're using MacOS X increasing the memory to the maximum of 1gb is almost essential. TBH Leopard hardly speedy muiltasking with anything less than 2 gb
