Hello! Seems I am a blue one since yesterday...

Allow me to introduce myself: I am a 35 year old bloke from the darker part of Germany. I have been an Amigan since the hardware became available on my side of the country in the early 90s. While I don't know what happened to my Amiga 500 after I gave it to my sister, the A1200 is still sitting on my desk being switched on every day. I have been fooling around a lot with it - Building in a CF harddrive, connecting a CD ROM drive (for OS 3.9 installation), setting up wifi, kicking a Remus customized Kickstart with BlizKick, screwing up the system with all those patches and starting all over. Mainly I now use it to play games using WHDLoad and often my wife joins me in that.

I have been frustrated about the way thing went for the Amiga (the curse of bankrupcy, the minimized and fragmented user base), and I have never had the money for affording new hardware, e.g. the Eyetech A1 in its days, the Sam or the X1000 now, which made it even harder - cause I really love Amiga. although I was reading forums thoroughly I never took greater notice of MorphOS. You guys were "the other ones" - for me the real deal was connected to the name. But, as I said, no way of being able to pay for a AOS4 machine. (I never really understood the "red vs. blue wars since" I re-joined the scene after that, I guess.)

One day I came across a ca. half hour long youtube video in which a British guy showed all of his Amiga related systems. And that's when I discovered MorphOS to be pretty cool. Then I did some further research. My brother-in-law handed me over his out-of-use Mac mini (1.42 GHz) for a good price. I didn't even look at the MacOS but installed MorphOS right away, registered, downloaded Pack ultimate 1.6.4 and here I am. Sure I had to turn off a bit of the eye candy, yet 1.5 GHz models are off limits for me considering the prices in online auctions.

There's still a lot for me to discover and I am sure to post dumb questions here once in a while. So... hope I didn't bore you guys all too much but I am so excited about how this all works and I am now posting from an amiganiod system that's really usable in these days.

I am looking forward to MorphOS 3.0 now, of course! Cheers!

Welcome to the "dark side" of Amigans! :-D

If you liked the ultimate pack (maybe with ice icons) and want to give a better look to your MorphOS desktop in few clicks then try my Better look Pack:

My suggestion is just to not use Lucy (it's an app that gives transparency to the windows/apps) on your machine, beacuse ti would make thinks slower on a 1,42Mini.

PegasosII "Elite" Machine --> PowerMac MDD "popular" Machine --> MacMini 1.5 "still more popular" Machine

    a) you might want to check into the local asylum

    b) if your in for a bargain MorphOS-system look out for PowerMac (QuickSilver,MDD or FW800), but I guess it's a little late for that advice ;)

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! :-) I know you guys like to keep track on the numbers of licenses sold.

@Miky060: Thanks for the hint! Really - me likey!

@Kronos: Had to take what came cheapest and quickest to get my hands on. No need for the asylum yet. Though my wife was a little suspicious when she asked "And what do you need that for now?" and I replied that I did not understand the question. MorphOS got her with the big blue butterfly. No inquisition anymore. ;-)

Welcome to the club! Have fun and dont forget there is a lot of cool 68 legacy software that is really fun for Morphos. Image Fx, Photogenics, Cinema 4d, also morphos titles like the games Birdie Shoot, Knights and Merchants, and more!
