I don't know if any developers will take advantage of this app store of DiscreetFX's, but I like the idea that it is open to all of the different types of Amiga OSes.

I'm waiting for details. Apple store is so succesfull partially because of support behind it, like automatic updates of purchased applications and automatic transfer of apps between different devices owned by the same user. There are also more questions like mechanisms of copying protection and so on. The website alone is only a part of the picture.

Actually, the website "is" a picture, and little more. ;-) (It doesn't seem opened yet?)

Which is why I didn't approve the news yet.. nothing to see. It will be on frontpage as soon as there is something worth reporting (or someone else approves it ;-))

Heh, they've moved the opening to the Wednesday. Either they are fixing last minute problems (which is simply unprofessional), or they try some lame marketing techniques, in this case they are just pitiful. We have enough amipuzzles.

Sorry for the selective quoting but that one was just too good to let it pass :-)

Fixing last minute problems is unprofessional ?
Perhap's MorphOS releases never had that... so don't say something like this, imho, it's simply stupid.

No. Unprofessional is giving the release date with some pathetic statements like "this announcement already went out by telegraph on accident and is burning up the wires" without tests and then delaying for bugfixing.

Anyway, we don't know the reason of the delay, so there is no point to discuss it further. Especially as the project is now open. I must admit for me it is disappointing. Maybe I've expected too much.

    TO be honest

I think it is not very good.

Was expecting at least a polished website like Apple App store or steam or kindle book store.

Was not expecting a proper app to download apps like others have suggested.

But the site is not very well done. And apparently it emails you once you have paid via paypal.

Should be instant download, should have proper account set-up

To be honest I'm not sure we have the resources to build the Paradise in the Clouds that some seem to be expecting. We will try our best though in the coming months.

Then don't make it out to sound like it's "Paradise in the clouds." It's a bare-bones web store a la 2003 with web design from 2000. Nothing to justify the name or the buzzwords you use in the description. I wish you good luck, but you should really have put some more work into this before making it public.

What's wrong with the site?. This is an attepmt to revitalize amiga scene, and people only bash it?.
I don't understand the behaviour of amiga scene nowadays.

I from time to time read your comments , and can't understand : did you really do not see when crap its crap, and when candy its candy ? I.e. can you see for example, that amigaboing.de (as example) looks professional, and project metropolis are absolutly, totally not , from all the point of views ?

The begaviour of amiga scene nowadays : have the good stuff, or better have nothing. But i assume you are from those persons who like everything, and does not matter what is that in reality. I really do not understand ppls who always say thanks for everything, even when to them put totall crap to face.

Kas1e: don't get it so much into you. I understand TheCrow from one point of view - he just likes it - that's his opinion.

For me that site suxx, it's unprofessional, undone. I don't want to say that I'm such a big webmaster or something but take a look on morphos.pl which is done by me (gfx) and Krashan (all other stuff). We are not a big company as DiscreetFX but I think our site looks a little bit better..

So, what you don't like is crap, and what do you like is the route to follow for the rest of people?. I have my own opinions and likes.
And for the question of getting the better or nothing, are you serious to ask that in a niche platform?.

This happened with the RELEC competition and probably the same people started it: I find it -AGAIN- really unfortunate that an effort is once again bashed even before it can take off AND evolve in what people really want to see. We want this, we want that,... we want, we want .... do it yourself if it's that straightforward.

All the best to discreetFX, Relec, Papiosaur ... you can't do wrong while doing nothing and the biggest problem being the small community where everything that's being done is been looked at with a magnifying glass.
