Hi, I'm Robdun and I just purchased a old eMac from NextStep(75$) When I booted the disk, I got a grey screen with an error. Error: Quark/OpenFirmeware Console failed
Is there a way to fix/ workaround this?
Nextstep specs(side of mac):
Built on 6/1/2010 Os:10.4 Cpu: G4 700Mhz RAM: 512MB SDRAM Hard Drive: 40GB IDE Combo No Modem
Gfx Card: GeForce2 MX
edit: I'm going to maximize the amount of ram and keep the default os.
The pool of possible choices is quite limited. Next to some Linux and BSD flavours and OSX Tiger, there's only Classic Mac OS (9.2.2 being the latest). If you really want to keep using this machine, you should upgrade the memory to the highest possible amount and use OSX Tiger. (Leopard should be possible with some inofficial tricks).
But I would choose another PowerPC-Mac. Maybe you want to stick your fingers on a Mac mini G4, a more recent eMac (1,25 or 1,42 GHz, which was successfully tested in the meanwhile IIRC) or Powermac G4 AGP.
