    Just a question as to why small updates could not be supported by an extra download for uprgades that just copies the relevant files, rather than having to download an iso and burn a cd?

    @JJ:
    It's possible to boot the ISO without burning a CD with some extra work in the OF. Even on a Mac.

    Copy the new boot.img from the ISO to a bootable partition (that is, readable from OF), then use the bootimage parameter while booting manually from OF, with the ISO path, like bootimage=DH0:morphos.iso. MorphOS will boot from the ISO this way, just like it would boot from a CD. Then you can proceed with the upgrade process as usual. I think it's even documented somewhere, but I can't found a link ATM.

    Hi Chain-Q

    I though there was a way to boot the img but hadn't looked into it.

    Thanks for the info. Will hopefully upgrade on the weekend.

    You don't have to burn an ISO, but what's wrong with downloading some mere 160MB I wonder?

    Nothing wrong with downloading that amount, apart from my crappy 2Mb connection :)

    And now I know how to easily boot the iso.

    So no need to wonder anymore and you can sleep soundly tonight :)

    i found 2 "bugs" on efika, usb pendrives continues freezes and radeon 3d hardware accelerated is a bit slower than 2.6 version.
    Solution, for usb boot with boot2.2.img and c/iprefs 2.2 version and replace the sys:morphos/devs/monitors/radeon from 2.6 to 2.7 with this 3d acceleration is faster than 2.7 radeon driver on efika booting with 2.7 boot.img

    Thanks for this new release, morphos rulez!

    @jacadcaps

    I did :-)

    @jcmarcos

    i'd better buy a powerbook for future releases, i don't see the point in getting a noisy powermac when i have a macmini : ) not worth the upgrade imo.

    Nice one but bloody pricey.. As much as I love MorphOS I won't spend that much on processor upgrade ;)

    _DaNi_: How did you measure it's slower? Any more details on this? I have installed it on my Efika, but no visible difference. I have an R9250.

    Not exactly, but it does put the CPU into a form of soft sleep that makes in generate a lot less heat (run Mac Mini in OpenFirmware for a few minutes and you'll notice the difference of NAP vs no NAP). Some of the older Power Macs do not have working northbridge support for this CPU feature while MorphOS 2.6 used NAP on all of them - this could have caused stability issues with older Power Macs.

    So to sum things up: for some users their machines will now be noisier but more reliable.

    Noisier!

    I hope not for my dual 1.25GHz MDD PowerMac, it is noisy enough as it is (looking for quieter replacement fans or a different case to lower the noise now), but I think you are referring to the older PMac's.
