It is required to boot the iso to perform a proper installation.

You can avoid burning a disc by booting the iso file. Just copy the boot.Img from iso to the position where the 2.x image is located.

Name the iso file boot.iso to make it more handy and type the command "info" in shell to obtain the device name of the partition the iso file is located on.

Now go to open firmware and type

Boot boot.img bi dh0:boot.iso

Make sure to use your device name instead of dh0, if it is different.
