Is there any easy way to connect to my buffalo linkstation which is obviously connected to a router. Is there a guide or an easy program to do this . thanks ?

Only question for you or other people. How can I get this to run the command automatically so the drive is there after boot ?

I gussed it wouldn't work adding to user-startup as Im guessing network not up by the time this is run, and I was right.

I know in Genisis and Miami you could get it to run a script or program when the stack connected is this possible in MorphOS?

Also FTP worked but thats not much good for using as network drive, but thanks for the info

Just add the script (or a link to the script) to your WBStartup drawer.

That should allow the network to initialise prior to mounitng the drive (works for me, anyway).

Thanks that was going to be my next test. Does the file have to have a certain extension or does it need to have a project icon or whatever it was back in the day. been a long time since I used AmigaOS for anything serious

When you save the script file, it should save with a project icon anyway (depending on your editing application of choice).

If there is no .info file, just copy an .info file from anywhere else and rename it to be the same as your script filename but with an .info extension (eg if your script file is called 'script1', name the .info file as 'script1.info').

Once there is an icon, just make sure the script flag is set (select the icon, go to information, ensure 'script' box is ticked).

It should now mount the shared drive upon startup, appearing as an icon on your desktop. If the shared drive is not switched on when you start your MorphOS machine, then it will simply not be mounted.

To avoid annoying con window opening, you may want to add the >NIL: option, eg:

run >nil: STACK=65536 SMBFS workgroup=[your workgroup name] user=[user name] service=//[share host name]/[share path] volume=[whatever name you want it mounted as]

From memory, it is also important to add the "stack=" arguement, but I'm sure that the readme will have explained this.

I not setting stack , im setting cache=500 at beggining. is stack needed ? Seemed to work ok without it

Other users have reported problems (freezing, failure to copy large files, etc) with the default stack size.

Also, in another thread Piru recommends increasing the stack size to 32768: I've never known him advocate anything which sacrifices resources for no reason.

There is a far more easy way.

Just create the file "s:network-startup" and place the following lines

;--- launch network stack
execute MOSSYS:s/network-startup
;--- now run any other network depending tools
run DETACH MOSSYS:c/Setclockntp

Thats all. This script sets the system clock on system boot.

Hmm yeah, that should work as well.

We should place a dummy file for this which gets installed if there is no such file. :)
