    Hello!

I don't know if many have heard but there is going to be an Amiga Demo Party in Second Life this August.
    http://virtuamigaparty.xooit.fr/index.php

I was thinking that in order to get more people to attend we should do a weekly meet up in Second Life. This way people that have never used Second Life can log on and get use to using it.

Second Life accounts are free. I know sometimes there is resistance to new technology and there is especially a lot of misconception around Second Life, but it is pretty cool technology and to me it is just the next step from IRC.

I was thinking we can meet up at the IBM site. We just need to nail down a date and time that works best. You can talk in Second Life like IRC or with a microphone if you choose. If you don't use a mic you can still listen and just type yourself.

Here is a link to the IBM site.

If you need any help getting on please post in this thread.

Will get you to the right place in the SecondLife viewer/browser.

It will probably just be some chatting and helping new people to learn how to use the software to do things like walk around and look at things. I hope to see lots of people there. Please don't be afraid to log in. It's just software. :)

I hope to see some MorphOS support there!

I'll skip thank you. Second Life is a dog. Have 60-70 users in the same world and it slows to a unusable crawl. And all that Linden Dollar crap. Eow.

I'll rather go out sit in the sun, or go for a walk.

Ah, it was a good time and it's free. It's nice to talk to people even if it's a phone, IRC, forum, or an application.

I was there for a little over half and hour (had to watch the World Cup), but it was fun. No Amiga users physically near me so it was pretty neat in that regard.

Hope to see even more people next Sunday including you Piru! I think chatting for 30 minutes won't really harm your real life. :) We're probably on forums much more than that in a week.

I've read here and there about Second Life (had no idea before, what is it). After 30 minutes of reading, I've got into conclusion that the first life is too interesting and time consuming for me, to be interested in getting a second one in parallel with the first. Well having the second one after the first would be far more interesting ;-).

It's not really another life that is just the name of the Application. (maybe a bad name)

Just a really advanced IRC client if you ask me. I was just logged in for the weekly meet up. Just chatted for about an hour about Amigas. It's was a really good time. I've met some really nice Amigans.

Need some more MoprhOS users representing! :)

Well, for chat I just enter #morphos (and some more channels) on irc.freenode.net. Another advantage is I can do it from a MorphOS machine.
