    Hi guys,

    I just upgraded to MorphOS 2.3 and I would like to relate my experiences.

    First of all, a big thank you to MorphOS team and everyone involved for this new version.

    It seems stable most of the time, just a few visits from the Log Server to indicate that changing NListTree config while using it is not a good idea.

    A few suggestions have been added to the Ambient feature request tracker and I have a few more that are somewhere between MorphOS, MUI and other applications:
    1. Multiview doesn't seem to like displaying small images without scaling. Changing the scale setting opens up more tabs but it's quite difficult to select a view without scaling.
    2. You must go to System Settings, Font module to change the screen font, not the Screen module. It took me a long time to find it hidden there after going through Ambient and MUI settings. Putting those few preferences in a separate module didn't seem logical to me.
    3. MUI help bubbles are brighter in the vicinity of rounded corners.
    4. Renaming files in Ambient requires multiple presses of the cursor keys to simply clear the selection.
    5. Adding bookmarks from Ambient settings doesn't quite work right.
    6. Can panels have a (semi) transparent background ?
    7. How to change the MUI settings for a disabled button ? Checkboard dots overlaid looks ugly...
    8. On the next release please make available a separate installer so you don't have to burn the ISO to install MorphOS.

    Thanks again.

    Enjoying MorphOS 2.3 ...

    8. If you are a user of MorphOS 2.x, you don't need to burn an CD for installing the system. Just double clic on the ISO file and go to tools/iwizard.

    I cant check this now (working in Czech where beer is good and women not so good) but what you mean by "changing the scale setting opens up more tabs"?

    @Daff

    I was looking for that information but I couldn't find it in the install instructions or on the morphos-team web site. As it happens I booted with my 2.1 install CD but installed from the 2.3 ISO file. Everything went fine except that at the end it says installation of MorphOS 2.1 is complete. Thanks, I'll use your information for when I install 2.4 :)

    @itix

    I confused myself when I wrote my explanation. When I load a small image with multiview scaling is turned on by default. Therefore a small icon file can be viewed at >4000% ! When you use the context menu to switch scaling off the image is still shown at the indicated scale. For example, I load an image, it gets rendered at ~7000%. So I switch scaling off but the rendering is still 7000% until I type 100 in the scale gadget. The behaviour with extra tabs was that I was clicking on the image and didn't realise that I was choosing an area to zoom in. The scaling was so high I was zooming in on a single pixel.

    I suggest that turning off scaling should show the image at 100% and disable the scale value gadget. Also disable zooming in to a single pixel.

    Enjoy Czech. If the beer is good then after enough the women will look good too ;)

    Don't know if anyone addressed this before, but when using wookie chat, and mplayer, at the same time they lock up when iconified. Minimizing mplayer when playing an mp3 causes it to lock up, if wookie chat is up and running. This is my experience on efika.

    Hmm, just tested that feature (thank you for pointing it out .......) and it does seem to work as i had expected. So what exactly is the problem ?

    Go to Ambient Settings, type in the name of a bookmark and a location then click the "Add" button. An unnamed bookmark is added with no location information. In other words: the information I enter is ignored. After that, I can select the unnamed book mark and edit it - that part works fine.

    That's what happens to me. Does it work differently for you ?

    Hi Tokai,

    Yes that would stop people from making the same mistake as me.

    However, from a usability point of view it seems wrong to get the user to add a useless bookmark and then edit it to make it correct, unless you immediately call a requester to get the user to fix it.

    It would also be cool if you could double click on a bookmark in the list to open a window at that location.

    It would be super cool if you could use locations like sftp://my.server.com etc...

    I've just seen the news so I'm off to check out MorphOS 2.4 :)
    No more comments from me for now...

    Now I get it. I think about it but way too late for 2.4 ;-)
