Not a bad read, and mostly accurate. I dislike the recent speed comparison between AmigaOS4.1 and MorphOS2.3 as it will only stir up old bad feelings between the two different Amiga camps again.
If the comparison had been done by a completely neutral party and the text had no obvious bias for either system, it would have been better. Also, the testing did not seem to be very scientific or exacting, so it leaves the door open for criticism from the losing side.
I feel that MorphOS is the definite winner when it comes to a direct comparison, but the gap between the two OSes had closed a great deal over the last couple of years and I applaud the progress that the AmigaOS4.x team has made. I can only hope that the spirit of competition will further spur the MorphOS team to greater achievements in the future to keep us ahead and I think that both sides have benefited and been hurt by the competition and being separated, as I am sure that if the relations between the two sides were more cordial, the exchange of information between them would benefit both groups and the end users.
I am just happy that we still have progress being made and that the systems have grown to be very useful on both sides. The release of the MacMini port should increase interest and the MorphOS user base, at least a little bit, but there are more than a few users that criticize the direction the team has gone and doubt the future of our tiny niche community and lifespan of the OS if it does not make a jump to another platform.
I like what I see for the short term future of MorphOS, but only time will tell what will happen beyond the next couple of years.
MorphOS - The best Next Gen Amiga choice.
