I am going to attend AmiWest 2009 in a few weeks and have been asked by the organizers to provide a seminar for MorphOS, or at least a presentation followed by a Q&A session.

I still consider myself a newbie here and to the use of MorphOS, though I consider it the BEST Amiga OS on the planet.

I would like to have someone else who is more knowledgeable than myself show up at AmiWest 2009 and perform the Seminar/Presentation w/Q&A session, but if no one else from here is going to attend, then please will a group of you help me prepare a presentation and a FAQ that covers recent developments and available software for MorphOS2.3 so I will not look like a complete idiot at the show and cast a bad shadow on MorphOS for those at the show that are unfamiliar with it.

I really would like to get some help from here on this project and I think it is a good opportunity for us MorphOS users to get the word out to many Amiga users that don't know what MorphOS is like and what it's advantages are compared to AmigaOS4.x and AROS.

If any of you would be willing to help me prepare for this show and/or help me prepare a presentation that could be run hopefully from my Efika, or alternately from my MacBook (but that would not be a good promotion of MorphOS, as it would show that the Efika is not capable of running a decent presentation), please contact me via email at " amigadave@earthlink.net ".

Thanks in advance for any help,

Edit: If anyone with a Pegasos2 could attend AmiWest 2009 and show how MorphOS runs better than AmigaOS4.x on their Pegasos2 computer, that would be great! I am still hopeful that the MorphOS Team will somehow finish MorphOS for MacMini in time for me to purchase it and show it at AmiWest 2009, but I can't count on it, but I will take my G4 PPC MacMini to AmiWest just in case it is available for download on that weekend.

    Bump!

50 views and not a single reply?

I realize that most of the members of this site are not located in the U.S. and cannot attend a show here. I also realize that many members of this site may think that the AmiWest shows are only for AmigaOS4.x lovers and it is a waste of time to show MorphOS at the AmiWest show. But I have to tell you that there are a lot of people that attend AmiWest that ARE interested in MorphOS and I had many attendees of the show last year who wanted to look at and play with my Efika during the show. The Efika is still available in a few places for sale brand new and it is a heck of a lot cheaper than a new SAM system, so it is not a bad way to get started with MorphOS for newbies (like me). There is also more interest in MorphOS since the port to the MacMini was announced and the performance figures showing it almost twice as fast as the currently fastest way to run MorphOS on, the Peg2. So for these reasons and more, I believe that it is worth my time and MY money to rent a booth/table at the AmiWest 2009 show and display my Efika running MorphOS2.3.

All I am asking for is help in preparing a presentation I can perform during the AmiWest show this year. I will do most of the work on this project and put all of your suggestions together to make some kind of presentation that is worthy of showing to the general Amiga public at the show. I will even give MorphZone credit for creating the content of the presentation and FAQ of current status of development of MorphOS during the presentation.

So, please join with me in creating a presentation that will reflect positively on MorphOS and our community here.

I wish you all the luck, I'd love to come but we only have one car now. Sadly as you can see most of the users here are not so into doing things like this. The last Amiwest I attended was all me. I had no support, they put me in the back alone and didnt even give me a banner to display like they did for all the "Amiga" types. I honestly cant blame anyone for now wanting to help them out this year after that. It wasnt much better the year before I went as well when Genesee put on a full presentation for it.

You are welcome to come with me Chris and Tim this year in my car. I would love to have you along and have you do, or help with the presentation of MorphOS during the show.

I am also working on a couple of other things for the show that I cannot reveal yet, but I guarantee that the show is going to be better this year and also very fun and informative.

You can share a room with one of us to save half the room cost and the show is free, so how can you resist.

I know that the acceptance of MorphOS at some of the past shows might have been rather cool, or absent, but they are asking for more MorphOS representation now and it was very well received last year. So please consider going along with us, it will be a blast and you can take your turn playing Chris' MiniMig in the back seat on the flip-down LCD screen during the drive up there and back (there are RCA stereo audio and video inputs for that screen in the rear of the center console of my car as well as a power outlet connected to an inverter).

    You are invited!
