I updatede to MorphOS 2.3 and still exploring.... =)
The two new screenbar options are nice, so the screenblanker "C64" style.
I noticed that 3d screenblankers now work right.
There's a new voice in system settings (display engine).
But changes are too much and need time. All seem to be more performing...
Nice and solid work, for that I saw til now. I'm going to check hd config and try the new boot option (for my Debian partition).

while i'm delighted with the pegasos version and amazed at the work that has been done to make morphos even more solid, fast, and easy to use, i'm quite disappointed about how it performs on Efika.

I found out only one issue but this one is a blocker for me. USB support on Efika is even worse than it was. While i don't have anymore to replug my mouse every 5 mins (it was dropping awfully), with the new poseidon i get morphos to freeze when i plug a usb stick. I've tried 4 different sticks so far, on a usb hub as directly through the usb port and it always crashes. Sometimes i can see the volume mounting, but when i try to list the files it freezes. Sometimes it freezes right when i plug the usb stick.

can someone confirm such a cheesy behaviour ?

    Hi,

fist of all I have to say THANKS VERY MUCH for this new great update of MorphOS. It seems to be faster and smoother and more stable! It's really nice to see that updates with bugfixes and improvements are released in not to big time intervals!

After testing MorphOS 2.3 a bit I noticed the following:

    - The pressure bug in the hid.class for the Wacom Tabletts (so pressure and not mouse is used) was not corrected/fixed.

    - Still no transparent background for Panels (or did I overlook something?).

    - 2 features I've asked for ghosted gadgets and active gadgets are not (yet?) in MUI in order to get rid of the uggly old ghosting...
    Screen grab: http://www.rmsvideo.ch/morphos/
    user: rms14@dmz.local pw:rms4234 in the mos_23 directory

    - Finally: great there is a memory.sbar but I wasn't able to center correctely the text in it, neither find a solution how to do it. Also I would have liked some more choices like a combination of Free memory in MB and free memory in %, or used in MB and % and perhaps a graphical presentation from greed > orange > red...

    - I was looking to change the eject.sbar icon on the screenbar because it's in black and difficult to see but was not able to find out how? Any idea?
Here also a screen grab: http://www.rmsvideo.ch/morphos/
    user: rms14@dmz.local pw:rms4234 in the mos_23 directory

    - There is a new tool SetClockNTP but there seems not to be any usage instructions (or I have overlooked them). Any idea how to use it would be great, so I can replace FACTS with it.

    - While playing back mp3's (I selected the mp3's in a lister and right mouse button click: play) when I insert a CD into the drive or e. g. open OWB I experience a sound trop for a seconde (I mean playback - no sound for 1 sec - playback again). Strange? or normal...

    That's all for now :-)

The Ejectbar image is fixed and can?t be changed. My fault. I?ll change that as soon as possible.

There is no documentation for setclockntp. Just run the command and the clock gets set, even with correct summertime if your area is supported. The DOS template is quite self explaininig.

For autostarting use a script containing

    WaitForPort NETSTACK
    SetClockNTP

and call that script from user-startup

    execute <>NIL: SetClockNTPScript

Unfortunatly the sys:s/network-startup script support still seems to be missing in 2.3. You can edit mossys:s/network-startup and add SetClockNTP at the end.

Panels are transparents when you don't set the "Always to front" setting to it. (when using Lucy) It makes sense to me.

Does it happen for initial efika install image as well ? Maybe it's some specific massstorage class config issue ...

    @soundsquare

yes, but with that setting not only the panels but the icons are transparent as well. not too fancy and a bit annoying.

    @geit

seems setclockntp doesnt work as you excepted. if you use the command by itslef it set the time 1 hour early (not only for me:) on irc theres only one user who got the right time that way. you have to use offsets to get it right.

fe. i use this line at the very end of my user-ss:

    run >nil: SetClockNTP 120 server hu.pool.ntp.org

maybe the server is unnecessary, but it works:)
wonder if i have to reduce the offset to 60 when winter time comes.

I noticed that changing a skin is much more stable and faast!
No prompt asking to close apps or windows.
But I don't know why using a trasparent frame with the windows, some of them loose the transparency in the top frame... It didn't with 2.2
    I mean this: Ambient
As you can see, magnify has a strange behaviour...... but sincerely did the same with 2.2 =)
Changing from the skin you see in the picture to Mahalaxmi (f.e.) the eject tool and the memory indicator disappear (although the panel selector indicates them active): maybe the bar height...?!

    Hi Sadddam!

It's a skin I'm drawing (that's the green version. Preparing the blue version too :-) )
It's not a strange feature!! I hope to finish them as soon as I can.
    Obviously, I'll upload 'em ;-)

So, after the update, I don't get the eject button or the memory meter on the screenbar. How do I add them? It must be something obvious, but I can't find it....

Yeah, servers aren?t required, as there is a bunch of Servers implemented, so even if one fails the other will do.

Also calling SetClockNTP in user-startup may completely fail unnoticed as the network stack may not be available at that time. Better wait for port NETSTACK as shown above.
Here the network stack is ready 8 (!!) seconds after boot process is finished.

About the time delay. Check your locale settings and select your timezone and your Country correctly. I know about some glitch with older prefs files, so select wrong time zone, save and select correct again to be sure its saved.

Currently DST is only implemented for Europe, USA and Canada. Most other countries use random dates for timeswitch, so it would require a repeatly updated database to keep track about the next DST events.

    Hello,

It's a nice upgrade, a summer gift that make me happy but... there are some little bugs :
    - panels "auto retract" doesn't work sometimes (old bug)
    - memory sbar disapear when the picture background i changed.
    - sound sbar doesn't appear when memory sbar is activated, i have to go to the preferences and increase/decrease width (and if a return to the original value, sound sbar is still visible).
    - when a sound is finished with sound sbar, the sbar preferences windows close itself. (perhap's old bug)
    - when a desktop shortcuts is renamed, it's disappear when rebooting. (old bug)

For me, it would be nice for the next release :
    - setclockNTP will be activated by a checkbox in time preference
    - more localised
    - a message when update is finished : you have to reboot to finished update
    - morphos preferences can be reduced (icon on 1 or 2 lines if width is too reduced)

    Great release.

3x faster in speed, especially when surfing. Feels like a new OS. Great job team!

Only issue I have found were:

    1. Autozipping didn't work for panels.

For the fist time I had a "Flawless Victory!" in installing which is HUGE for me. :-)
IT feels very nice. I notice an issue which is probably not related to the release. OWB1.4 now loads with a black screen on my high resolution setting (1920x1080) whether 2d or 3d layer but this is on an efika system and the ram is <20mb and drops considerably when the window finally opens. At boot ambient displays 41mb or so free. Owb 1.3 lite offers better use, but resizing is necessary. I don't think I had this issue before, but enlighten me if I errored somewhere. No mem problem with 1024X768 resolution, which is what I'm on now to post this. Oh. one more note, usb is smashing now. I use to fear transparancy due to mouse dropping, but now...bring then on! Well done!

Seems it did it also with a youtube video from owb mp4 opt (getvid) in mplayer it blended in with ambient til i resized, sound but no video My graphic card is radeon 9250
    posted with OWB1.4 ;-)

    @ RMS and all:

If you look inside MorphOS Exec Monitor (MEM - courtesy of Amigazeux) you can find a pattern that
could make more attractive the gauge bar of that module.
    In a folder there's a "cpugauge.png" pattern:
open MUI settings for Intuition screen manager, go to "Button" section and in the box"Gauge".
    Select "Knob" and press "Background".
If you click in the bottom box you can load that pattern that is exactly wide as the memory bar gadget! =D

    bargauge.png

I hope they won't get angry for this.... :-)

EDIT: Every skin has its own width. So you have to adjust "Width" in the MUI setting of intuition
screen manager. Just in case you notice that pattern doesn't look good..
