    Hello,
with the latest release of MorphOS, I had some ideas coming to my mind when upgrading:
Would it be possible to have the user change/define some of the routines:
    1. Chose a path for back-up data
    2. Leave out some steps of the installation, like Games, Docs or even TP as there is a newer version still sold by ZedoNet.

    Any comments on this?

    Regards

Not sure what backup has to do with installation / Iwizard ? I use diavola for it.

But some sort of Iwizard option for "advanced" users that know what they are doing ( and that's not me for the moment ) ... is probably not a bad idea.
On the other side, MorphOS is not that full of software that it takes you ages to throw out what is not needed after installation.

during updating to a newer version the envarc: gets backed up just to be able to restore an old config, this is handy for e.g. screensettings...

and yes, you are right, it's quite easy to install and manually do the steps in question.
this is more a question of comfort/laziness...

There is no need to 'restore' any settings after an update - the update function of IWizard preserves all previous settings.

The only advanced option I'd add there is the installation of Contribs.

I am having trouble installing MOS2.2.

My DS Pro 4GB USB stick is formatted with FAT32 and is recognized when inserted into my EFIKA running MOS2.1, I downloaded the "morphos-2.2-efikainstall.img" file and copied it to the USB memory stick, put it in my EFIKA, turned it on and pressed the "ESCAPE" key until I got to the OpenFirmware "ok" prompt.

I then typed in "boot scsi:0 morphos-2.2-efikainstall.img" (without the quotes) and hit the enter key. I then got a message something like this - "error unable to boot or load".

I then copied the morphos-2.2-efikainstall.img file to my EFIKA's hard drive and quick formatted the USB memory stick from my EFIKA and copied the morphos-2.2-efikainstall.img file back to the USB memory stick and tried again to get my EFIKA to boot from the USB memory stick and got the same results.

I tried several times, same result. I am writing this from my Windows computer while the EFIKA is doing a full format of the 4GB USB memory stick, but that may have been a mistake because it has been about 15 minutes since I started the formatting and it is now only 0.5% completed, so I cancelled the format and I am moving it back to my Windows computer to format it. I will try formatting with FAT instead of FAT32 and see if that makes a difference. Then I will download the morphos-2.2-efikainstall.img file from the EFIKA onto the USB stick instead of copying it from the Windows computer and then try the install again.

If anyone knows what I am doing wrong, please chime in and let me know.

IMHO copying the install image to HDD and booting from there will do the trick. There is also a reliable TFTP booting over network.

    @amigadave

    1. Did you installed your previous MorphOS 2.1 from that your DS Pro 4GB USB stick?
    2. Insert your USB stick and in OpenFirmware type "show-devs" (without the quotes)
    look fo someththing like that:
    /builtin@F0000000/usb@F0001000/scsi@0
    /builtin@F0000000/usb@F0001000/scsi@0/disk@0,0 (block)
if you see similar strings - OpenFirmware able to "see" your USB stick
type "cd scsi:0" and after that type "ls" (without the quotes)
if you see strings similar to - DOS partition 0: fat32/lba (0xC)
than OpenFirmware able to "see" partitions on your USB stick.

if not so - you can try another (smaller size) USB stick.

I had the same problem with the Transcend TS4GJFT3 4Gb USB stick.
The problem was solved by using old 1Gb noname USB stick.
