I've always had a partition called Dubious:
He was a Golem paladin in Zangband that I played
for almost a year had him at level 46 before I got bored
and dove down way to far into the dungeon... and killed him.

There is also the kickstart partition (unmounted per default) which holds the boot.imgs.

The naming scheme is more or less obvious, I think. Macalania and Zanarkand are locations in FFX. Something like "Movies 1" und "Movies 2" sounded a bit too boring, hence I choosed more interesting names. As the computers in my LAN are all named after summon creatures of the FF series I thought using location names would fit for the HDs. ;)

Why do you want to know?

    On my Peg:

    MorphOS145:
    MorphOS2:
    Linda:
    Petra:
    Paula:
    Denise:

Paula and Denise are a small tribute to Amiga and host audio stuff and gfx stuff. All partitions are sfs.
zylesea: is a usually not mounted ffs partition holding the boot images

    On my Efika:

    MorphOS:
    Linda:
    Petra:

    partitions are sfs.
    --
my usb sticks usually also are named by rather short and simple girl's names (names I usually don't have a personal relation to - at leat not at the time I name the drive).

edit: added the Efika drives, usb and other things

My names tend to be boring ;-) No big tributes to anyone here!

The only "unique" thing I do is have all the various browser that use a disk-cache actually going to somewhere on the Cache: partition. jpegtmp goes there too. IRC downloads.. browser downloads...

Boot image and Linux partitions are normally unmounted. System and utils partitions are small to be in all limits and easily backuped/fixed/defragmented. Temp partition is used for caches, swapfiles etc so that other partitions won't get fragmented. And there's never enough space :)
