Hi All, I'm wanting to buy MorphOS 2.0, but cannot find anywhere to buy it. I have downloaded it but have no time even to try it yet. Is there an online store where to buy the keyfile? Seems a puzzle to me... not even mention of where to buy it from the MorphOS 2.0 website...

A registrationtool can be found on the cd. You buy MOS2 using it online.

given that I don't have time to install it or play with it yet, does the reg tool work on MorphOS 1.4.5?

No, it does not. The idea is to avoid people buying something that will not work later - right now when someone registers we know that he'll be able to use the product too.

Anyway, you can get online and register from a cdboot. Takes 5 minutes max.

This is too bad for those of us who are in the middle of moving, with all pegs packed down, and not enough time. But I'll find time this weekend.. I hope. :-)

That's got to be the funniest way to buy a product I've ever heard of... hope they fix it one day so it's more "normal"... I guess I'll have to burn a CD then and see what happens...

So much "protective" work done for a couple hundred users userbase where pretty much everyone knows each other. Yes, it does seem a bit funny :-)

Perhaps, but certain incidents made it clear that there were some willing to distribute illegal copies. Not so funny, that.

Any bets how long it will take befre someone comes up with a keygenerator? On the other hand, Amiga-crackingscene is about as good as dead, so maybe on that front you are safe afterall.

When a product is expensive, there's more demand for a cracked version.

True. Low of demand also helps. But there's always people looking into new challenges. I really hope MorphOS never gets cracked, by the same amount as I really hope for a cheaper MorphOS.

    This conversation is getting nasty...

well... as suspected I didn't actually get time to burn a CD and try buy it with the funny purchase method... and the price is going up tomorrow... which makes it even less likely I will actually buy it... sorry guys... pitty u don't make yr product EASILY purchasable - ie: from my work where we ONLY have PCs... and ideally via Credit Card payment.

Indeed, and that's why I just now stepped down the foot and actually bought the thing! No brainer really, MorphOS 2.0 rocks! Worth supporting! :-)
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)
MorphOS NG will be AROS done right! :-)

I finally got it working from CD, not very intuitive... but it worked and wow, what a hassle and it then needs you to use PAYPAL, yuk... they really should fix what's broken soon...

    Start a bounty .. if it goes beyond 150 000 Euro I'm sure we'll do one... ;)

[EDIT: As pointed out by JoBBo, due to me not being fully informed on the latest sales-statistics during my vacation (guess I should have stayed in more expensive hotels) and being the sad pessimistic bastard I am I didn't anticipate 2.0 to sell as well; shifted the sum 1 digit... ;) ]

Um... 15000 euro for a free MorphOS 2.0. That's only 100 registrations, at 150 euros each. So, when there's 100 registered users, MorphOS will release a free keyfile!

    :-) :-) :-)

CISC forgot a zero. As he is still on an extented vacation trip, perhaps his typing abilities degraded slightly by now :-) (What a lucky git.)

procedure to buy morphos (from memory, I might have missed something):

    - boot up the pegasos from cd (cos previous morphos is on the hdd)
    - run the regtool, get an error cos networking isn't working
    - go to the network control panel, don't do anything, just exit it, then open shell to see if can ping, it works now? weird
    - retry the regtool (cos you didn't close it before)
    - it sends something somewhere
    - reboot the pegasos in it's previous morphos version to check for email, should get some code in there
    - open the link from the email and type in the code?
    - it sends another email?
    - open the link to the new genesi paypal payment site
    - and fail to pay with paypal cos it doesn't work with aweb, scrounge around for a pc or something to forward the email with the paypal link in so you can buy it
    - get another email saying you have paid and a keyfile might take a few days?

    all tooo hard...

Sigh... Why can't we just send an e-mail, saying "hey, gimme a keyfile for this MAC address", and then proceed with payment? What's so misteriously important in the RegTool program?

    Paypal sucks.

    Conversion rates

    Paypal:
    GBP 1 = EUR 1.21

    http://www.xe.com/ucc
    GBP 1 = EUR 1.25

Because the key is based on more data than just the MAC.

Ouch! First time that I hear this, thankyou for the information. Again, making suppositions like I did is not a good idea.

The MAC of an RTL card if you have one for instance.
