    After seeing the bold gesture from Genesi of providing an Open Desktop Workstation with MorphOS and 50€ of it to the MorphOS Bounties program, searching on froogle for the Pegasos and actually finding more resellers apart from Genesi to actually deliver it my grief just got bigger after seeing what the actual general fund is...(~=143€) :roll:
    My question is, the MorphOS situation is that bad? MorphOS isn't enough reason to sell a Pegasos?

    Not to spread doom and gloom about MorphOS, but for me was a sad revelation ... :(

    I don't have any idea how these are selling, but here are a couple of thoughts. Maybe people who want to run MorphOS would rather buy a Peg II motherboard instead of a full ODW. It's US$300 less, a lot of these guys might have the rest of the components already, and the ODW case -- while good for industry use -- isn't exactly exciting compared to other more "interesting" cases like the one up there in the GGS-Data ad.

    Also, maybe Peg sales for MorphOS won't pick up until MOS 1.5 is released, or there are other bigger signs of continuing development.

    Seems like there is a lot of uncertainty these days in the post-amiga world and people may be watching to see how things get sorted out.

    I believe you are right. I rediscovered the Amiga two months ago, and I was wondering whether to buy:
    * An A1200+HD+Blizzard PPC+ Bvision
    * An AmigaOne
    * A Pegasos II

    I quickly discarded the A1200 (old hard, little growth potential), but had a hard time choosing between A Pegasos and an A1:
    Both seem to offer similar products (PPC and a light OS that is backwards compatible with OS 3.1).

    Both seem to have some problems with OS development (OS4 is taken ages to be released, while on the internet there are some web sites that announce that MorphOS is dead due to economic divergences between the development team and Genesi).

    What really made up my mind was that, while navigating through some OS4 forums, I've heard SERIOUS talk about going for even lower processor speeds in the future to completely forgo the need for active cooling... A completely silent machine is nice, but a machine that is silent and SLOW isn't.

    I've been there, so I know what I am talking about. A new MorphOS release (especially if it intervenes before an OS4 one) would certainly go a HUGE way towards inciting Amigaists to go for the Pegasos/MorphOS solution.

    Things are going well for MOS and the Pegasos. The decision for Genesi to release the hardware specs to anyone that wants them is even better for us. That could mean anyone with the means can build a board and thats good news. Well goos as long as someone takes up the offer and produces them.

    As for the A1, well you can no longer get them. They are not being produced at all. They talk of new board comming out soon but its even slower and has less on it then the A1 did. For me the clear choice for my Amiga fix is MorphOS and the Pegasos. If they release OS4 on the Pegasos hardware and it does well I can get that as well have have the best of both worlds. For now MOS does fine.

    Well, may be you wouldn´t have have discarded the A1200 as quick as you have done it

    After all the A1200 (or A4000 for that matter) with PPC is the only system of your choices that:

    1 Is widely avaliable
    2 Can run the two: MorphOS and AmigaOS4 ;-)
    And 3 is in an Amigaish case :roll:
