    To cool! An established OS has gone and made a "theme" to emulate the look of MOS. I love it!!!

    This is probably the most non-functional and ugliest desktop I've seen in ages. Ambient looks like poo already and has severe deficiencies in usablity, but in combination with lesstif, overuse of transparency, bad looking fonts and uncomprehensible mish-mash from gradients and sick colors it's giving me the creeps!

    @Oppressor:

    I don't know if you are talking about Ambient itself or about my theme for Fluxbox. If it's about my theme, I understand, since I didn't do any test but in both my Pegasos at home and my debian box at uni. It works ok for me, though.

    If you complain about Ambient... well, I guess you better go back to MS-DOS, C64-basic, or whatever is the last thing you were ever satisfied with.

    By the way, there are plenty of themes because there are plenty of tastes. If you don't like any of them, make one yourself! I like most of the themes for Fluxbox, but most of them are very dark, and I wanted a refreshing look.

    Any feedback is welcome! Since I am thinking of a related GTK theme.

    Both. I dislike Ambient for its overuse of eye candy, while at the same time too much is lacking in terms of functionality. Judging from the looks of your theme you did not only match but extrapolate this problem.

    > If you complain about Ambient... well, I guess you better go back to MS-DOS, C64-basic, or whatever is the last thing you were ever satisfied with.

    MS-DOS at least didn't overuse eye candy, and the C64-basic UI was good-looking and functional at the same time. It achieved this even with a similar color theme.

    > By the way, there are plenty of themes because there are plenty of tastes. If you don't like any of them, make one yourself! I like most of the themes for Fluxbox, but most of them are very dark, and I wanted a refreshing look.

    You succeeded in making something refreshingly different. I don't release my desktop configurations very often, they are all looking the same and usually considered ugly and boring by most people.

    > Any feedback is welcome! Since I am thinking of a related GTK theme.

    That was my feedback. :-)

    There is a saying in Hollywood that applies to you using this theme:

    "Fake it till you make it"

    HAHA! LOL.
    But I agree actually...
    Nothing personal Hawk, but "Ambient looks like poo already".
    I'd go for the default OS4 look. Clean and fresh.

    @ple3003:

    you mean this ?

    I prefer Ambient styles. I am not gonna make a theme mimiking something I don't like... As I said, it's about tastes. If you want an OS4 look for your linux box, I'd suggest you make it yourself :-D Of course I will download it ;-)

    @others:

    thanks for the positive feedback! I was beginning to think I had better never uploaded my theme to freshmeat in the first place.... ^^;

    Hawk,

    Did you ask permission from the MorphOS Team and specifically André Siegel before you reused their property?

    Not to want to be a killjoy.. but please respect their hard work.

    And let's not mention those "rip off" themes for MorphOS, huh? Or those icons which obviously have their origin on MacOSX, huh? Or your avatar.. or mine :-D

    @Neko:
    I remembered this topic today....
    When u told me about asking permission, I promptly wrote to Mr. Siegel, but I never got a reply from him.

    I hope it's OK to continue using the theme ^^; I thought it may give some publicity of Pegasos and Morphos during my presentations with my Gentoo-powered laptop ... :-P
