When I woke up this morning I noticed that my Peg II stopped working. It locked up earlier this morning, I could still hear the sound of my TV card. When I rebooted; nothing happened, the harddisks wouldn't spin on and no OF :-(

Allready tried another PSU, removed several cards and used another videocard but still nothing. Guess I'll have to return my Peg to Computer City :-(

Have a look if the CPU card is correctly in the slot.

Allready checked it, that's not it. Also when the ide cable is plugged in on the mainboard the drive's don't spin up but when the drive's are disconnected from the mainboard they spin up.

If there is another computer in the household, try to check serialdebug.

    'lo

    some other options:

    - check in the heat sink is well monted on the CPU card. And that it covered all the CPU surface (not angle).
    - Look at the serial output, if you can. It usually gives some precious information.

No, normaly I turn off my Peg, but yesterday I was ripping a couple of dvd's on my windows box (wich I normally use to watch tv) that I'm gone use to veejay next weekend and I watched tv on my Peg.
I'm gone get myself a serial cable and check the serial debug output. I also tried another memory stick but that wasn't it either.

Man, that sucks....guess the warranty will cover this, you shouldn't send your pegasos back for repair, a good service would be Genesi send you a new pegasos and you send your old one back when you have your system up and running.

Yeah it sucks big time. I bought my Peg at Computer City and they have a good service. I'll send it back monday and hopefully I'll have it back next weekend. Oh well, back to my A4k wich until now never quits on me ;-)

Went shopping for a null modem cable but unfortunally the shops I tried didn't have it. Tommorrow I'm gone build one myself.

Before sending the mobo back to Computer City, you should check what's going on the Serial port with your 4K.
You can use DraemTerm (Aminet) for that: 115200 bauds.

You will certainly get some information.

My computers are powered on most of the time too. However, I do recommend to use a UPS and a reliable PSU. A lot of computer crash (Pegasos or not) are cause by bad electricity.
You can find a cheap UPS for less than 100 Euros. It's really worth if your computer is running all the time. Also, do not choice the cheapest power supply.

I personnaly use an "APC Back Ups 500VA BK500EI" bough there: http://www.aps.fr/?category=19.

    And no problem.

    Let's hope it's noting.

    Welcome to my world..

I send my system about a month ago to CC,
    my G4 card died.

CC (Ron) is currently on vacation,
he will be back in a few weeks.

Hope they can fix it soon.. I'm getting
very depressed working with windows on
    my laptop :-)

    :-( You scare me ...

I've put my own G4 (passively cooled by Zalman NB Cooler)
into a Desktop with a low power psu (200W) so there is near
to no airflow in the case ...

    Runs since a week 24/7 ...

    @NicoPPC
I made a serial null modem cable and installed DreamTerm on my Amiga 4K, the only output I got on my Amiga is a character when I turn the Pegasos on and a character when I turn the Peg off. Do I need to change other settings in DreamTeam or is changing the baudrate enough?

    No, of course not! :-)

I have had my Peg2 G4 running 24/7 at 100% CPU since early March, crunching RC5 keys (I only turned it off just the other day to make some re-arrangements of my "machine park"). It's made for using! :-)

But everything can brake down, and everything DO brake, eventually ...
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)
