Personally I thought their best hope was the set-top box idea. If they can manufacture small units running some OS...maybe Linux...maybe MOS with a nice media layer/architecture, then they just might be in with a chance to find a partner to manufacture in volume and thus support further development.
The market mor HDTV media players and the like seems to be in the $200 to $299 range right now. The competition largely being Taiwanese.
The market for DVR..think next generation Tivo (with installed HDD and DVD burning capability) seems to be from $300 up to $599..depending on installed hardware. The competition here is huge..Phillips, Sony et al.
A set-top box is 'not a computer' but a manufacturing contract for 250,000 boxes would sure enable the cashflow to support development of one...
