I heard that the Pegasos II is not available anymore.
You can preorder one but you won't get
one before the next production run. Is this true?
I tried to check but none of the shops i looked at
had an available state there.

What about the Pegasos III, BBRV stated in their Superbundle posting (year 2003) that it will be available early next year. In the TV show on GIGA
the people from BPLAN said something about fall 2004. So anybody can clear this up for me?

I don't expect pegasos3 this year already... next year is realistic.

about availability of peg2: yes they are some waiting times, because the peg2 probably sold faster than expected. But preordering is a good idea: who first preoders will get peg2 first. :) AFAIK next production is _very_ soon. (in 1-2 weeks or so, I'm not 100% sure).

Many seem to be interested in Pegasos but are a bit uncertain, becouse of forthcoming Pegasos 3...

Wonder if there will be Pegasos 2 => Pegasos 3 upgrade deal as there's now for Pegasos 1 => Pegasos 2?

While I can't make a promise, I can certainly speculate that it is in the realm of possibilities. There are so many contributing factors to such decisions, I doubt that it would be made before the PegasosIII actually goes into production. With that said, I think the whole idea of the PegasosIII is far enough into the future that we're talking about a moving target.

IIRC A public "Pegasos3" aka PegG5 is a long way off.

Focus should be on Pegasos2. It is very stable and the true Pegasos. If you want Power get the G4. ATM the following OS run:

1. Morphos 1.4.x

2. Linux - Debian, Gentoo, Mandrake

3. OpenBSD

4.. and others in beta

So, order now dont base your decision products that do not exsist...

AFAIK, BB and RV told, that Peg1 -> Peg2 upgrade is the last 'special offer' from genesi, everything next will be strictly commercial.

Yes, and there will be another show tonight at 21:00 CET, on the same chan. Longer, better, and we'll show much more of MOS and LinuxPPC. The two shows will be available in subtitled version together then. (Subtitle of the first show is already done, only needs final touches.)

OK you got me. I preordered one with 512 MB Ram.
The other things are already somewhere around here. I didn't go for the G4 because it is just too
expensive for the performance it gives. I wish the long awaited G3 + AltiVec from IBM was already here
(if it ever sees daylight)... I will see if the Pegasos fits me.
Maybe i find the time to learn a little c++ on it. "Hello World!"
