I’ve read a couple threads here but just want to double check something. When you install MOS, is there anything that happens which is machine specific apart from the boot image which I guess is fairly obvious.
As per the title I’d like to pretty much copy my PowerBook G4 to my X5000 as there’s a lot of setup already done over the years. If I ignore MosSYS and the boot image, can I just backup the rest and copy it over? They are both on the current 3.19. The X5000 just isn’t licensed yet. I’m waiting to get a compatible sound card and check everything is good before licensing it.
[edit] PS: sorry for the few noobish questions lately!
In envarc:sys ac97, ahi, interfaces and prefs, keyboard, poseidon and publicscreens are not the sames. Maybe mouse, to check. Also sys:prefs/presets/monitor/ monitor-31khz will be dfiferent and maybe the name of the screen plugged. In envarc:mui screens will be different.
You can just delete poseidon prefs otherwise you will encounter freezes of the mouse or of the keyboard on boot. They will be created on the fly at the next boot. After you launch every of these prefs one by one and check them.
It should be just the boot.img you have to skip. Might also run into some settings that just won’t make sense on the X5000 like screenmode and network.
