Why not?
You won't get full speed as the CPU won't be able to handle the overhead.
I pay for 50MBit, get 57 on MacStudio, the G5 gets 17.4 with WayFarer and measly 2.7 with Odyssey....
All still faster than what you describe with your NAS.
The point here is to determine if it is a general slowness with your NIC, SW overhead (is the CPU maxxed out when downloading from NAS, see Utilties/TaskManager or the CPU screenbar) or is the NAS dropping packages to some issue wuth the protocol used.
