I don’t think MorphOS can exist anyplace that isn’t „desktop“

Who says that and what leads you to this conclusion? And why is the idea of the classical "desktop" computer still the fundamental basis that has to be taken into account, when we think about MorphOS's future? Our current machines are not even up against rapsberry pis

Outside of Apple nothing ARM is competitive on the desktop and even that comes with some caveats.

What competitiveness are you talking about? Competing with the latest Intel and Ryzen chips in regards of speed and power? Why would you want to do that?

ARM is the most widespread architechture and has the best price/power ratio.
I think its time for rethinking MorphOS and computing itself. The 90s concept of owning the best and most powerful towered PC with highend components is a relic of the past and does not have any relevence today, but people are still holding up to this idea.
The only group that is really drawn to those systems are highend gamers as they need 500W power supply with liquid cooling etc.

On a lightweight OS with restricted resources it doesnt really make sense to go that route. The trend is going into the direction of small and efficient hardware with less power consumption. This would actually be the perfect soft spot for MorphOS.

Resourcing 10 year old Intel hardware will be a pain, just like adding and maintaining constant support to new mainboards on a regular basis (to keep up availability of supported hardware).

Raspberry is the best solution and ideologically the closest system to the amiga spirit.
