Hi, after updating (successfully) to 3.18 and rebooting the machine ends up on an empty Ambient screen with a mouse pointer only.

how to fix this or, wth happened?

Most likely due to something you run at startup crashing before Ambient is fully loaded.

    Options:
    - boot from 3.18 CD, backup whatever you need (don't forget the keyfile) and do a fresh install

    - boot from 3.18 CD, remove anything from WBStartup all 3rd parts screenbar modules and anything else you can think of and try to boot from HD

I also had some USB-drives inserted stall the boot process but never found a clear pattern for it.

wbstartup is empty now, even removed the disabled folder.
    no effect.

i don't want to re-install, i would lose all the setup i have done, my icons etc. not gonna do that.

still need to find the place where the lil menulets are.

ok i found those modules and took them all out.

nah, they are all back. no idea, where i configured them to load.

    nothing changes.

only thing left is maybe the theme and the screenbar logo on the top left.

There's a morphos system backup drawer created when you update with the date of installation, rename the current one to something else and then rename the backup drawer to its original name. That should be enough.

He’ll need to rename the boot.img too.

You probably removed them from SYS:, which in your case is the CDROM.

Use your hard drive name. DH0: or System: or whatever, when booting from CD.
