I couldn’t get MorphOS to display on my Samsung 43 inch UltraWide. I’m not sure if it’s the Mac mini’s fault or MorphOS. TriCaster 40 works with it fine. I haven’t tried the X5000 with it yet.

Try pressing and holding CTRL while booting until Ambient appears and you should get a 1024x768 resolution.

If this works, you should be able to try to find and save a screen mode that works then.

Please note that no Mac Mini G4 will be able to drive a full 3840x1200 resolution. This is not exactly the right monitor for this type of machine.

Thanx for the tip but CTRL didn’t work. I just tested the X5000 with it and it worked fine running AmigaOS 4.1. I’m going to blame this on the Mac mini hardware since it’s so old.

That monitor does 3.840x1.200 which is far beyond what the the single link DVI on the Mini could handle.

Not sure if thats still the case but way back it was that if a monitor requested DualLink DVI (or in this case a higher bitrate as it lacks DVI) on a single link GFX card things would fail.

If you get it running with ASiegels tip you might try to create a 30Hz mode.

On the X5000 you would need a GFX card that can handle 4k over HDMI or DP, Dual-DVI will do you no good. Nor sure if those high bitrates are supported by CGX........

    Edit:

Another tipp from the old days, delete any freshly made up monitor definition and put a known working (FullHD) file in there but I'm not sure how that would work today (it did work like a charm back in the 2.x days).

Well, if you cannot even see the OpenFirmware prompt, that is quite bad news.

You could try to boot MorphOS from CD (by pressing C). This way, you would know if MorphOS works with default settings at least.

Still, as I wrote before, this monitor is generally a bad fit for a Mac Mini G4, which barely manages FullHD at normal refresh rates.

It is also possible that whatever DVI-to-HDMI adapter you use might be to blame.

mini's DVI goes haywire with some Samsung displays, and it can't even produce anything higher than FullHD. This is an issue on a hardware level and not much can be done on the software side, afair.

I’m not really a Samsung customer ever since my ice maker broke right after the warranty expired on my Samsung refrigerator. This monitor was sent to me because of a new work from home contract I’m starting on soon. I was just curious if it would work with MorphOS on Mac mini and AmigaOS 4.1 on the X5000.

Mac mini's DVI transmitter is pretty much on the edge with 1920x1080 already, there are even some extra bits in the driver to workaround some issues even in that resolution.
Resolutions like 3840x1200 are pretty much out of the scope for most of our supported hardware. The typical max is something like 2560x1440/1600 for some Radeon cards which have dual DVI support, typically found in the PMacG5 range of supported machines or external PBook output.
Unless we expand our support for PCIe graphics cards, I don't see how this monitor can ever work properly in its native resolution.
