Just like with the Efika cables are a complete nogo, both only take drives directly connected to the PCB (a small riser in the case of the MIni.
With the Mini you have an plastic inlay which includes the fan and is designed for optimal airflow that just has the space for 1x 2.5" HDD/SSD and the slim DVD.
Edith:
mSATA + adaptor would be even cheaper than SATA + adaptor and you don't need to rip your drive apart.
