Here's your answer. Mac Edition cards have an additional power connector (and of course PowerMacs have an additional slot, next to the AGP), that powers up the card, the monitor (through ADC), and (correct me if I'm wrong) as well as passes the USB 1.1 signal so that the ADC monitor acts as a USB hub too.
