Ok I apologize for not posting anything worth reading for a while but here is something I think would be good. OpenBeos will be ported to the pegasos and that is awsome! but it is gona be a long time away. Meanwhile Zeta (though i hate to admit if being an OpenBeos fan) seems to be comming along quite nicely they are really doing some good work on it. I think Genesi should get in contact with Yellow Tab and see if they would port Zeta to the Pegasos. that would be great!!! the pegasos would be an ideal platform, and i want beos on the ppc i miss my old BeBox. well tell me what you think anyone agree Zeta should be on the pegasos?

I am a long time BeOS user. If I put it mildly - I am a big fan.
Now, nothing wrong with MorphOS - it is swell and I am very curious how it will improve in the future. Whit it there a exciting environment.
I am following the OpenBeos (Walter) through the mailinglist and the web - and occasionallty on BeShare (Filesharing/Chat in mostly BeOS).

When it comes to Zeta and making it PPC, there are too big gaps to overbridge.
Zeta is based on BeOS 5.1d0 (Exp/DanO), the last version that the Be Engineers ever created. Unfortunally, the PPC codebase was not upto date and the previous version and last official version, BeOS 5 is now propery of PalmSource.
That means that the Zeta team do almost the same as the OpenBeOS team - recreating it from the ground up.

It think we have to wait for openbeos. But I don't see that as an problem - they are doing a great job.
Has anybody succeded starting BeOS5 Pro in Maconlinux?

It's all the property of PalmSource so there's no difference. BeOS is 95% portable so I don't think it's anywhere near the job you describe.

I meet up with the Zeta guys ever so often, they wern't ready to port before being busy, but now I think they probably could do it.

I fully expect to see Zeta on Pegasos someday.

This would confirm they have got the source code to dan0. Hard to think they do, because of the minor, if any changes in the kernel since dan0, apart from date changes, which could have easely been done with a hex editor.
So I guess if they release it to the Peg2 they will prove me otherwise. :)

This is indeed good news. But, for all the new stuff coming to the Peg (the os's) it's always said as.. for Peg2. I do hope we see every new thing also on pre Peg2's. But I think that was stated by Bill some time ago that they would.

If you have got dan0 installed, compare the kernel size with the one in zeta. It\s EXACTLY the same size. Dont think thats a coincidence. Havent run it through a hex editor yet, cause i havent got zeta yet. but maybe someone whos got it can do it for us?

AFAIK became the BeOS 5/ BeIA codebase PalmSource, not the Dan0 codebase (BeOS 6) since it was a beta.
    But anyway:
Yes, it should be very portable. Question is how the the state of the Dan0 ppc is compared to Dan0 i386.

Well, me to. That would be great - they have worked hard with it. But my hopes are actually more with OpenBeOS since they are using the NewOS kernel = more refined and doesn't suffer from some of the BeOS weaknesses.

But still MorphOS is exciting and new.

I know people very closely connected to YellowTab. They have previosly mentioned that they WANT to port Zeta to the Pegasos, but they have no manpower available for the project.

Should I pull some strings and see what we can get out of them?!
Maybe someone here can commit to the project in some way?

    Let me know...
    Pegasos of course..
    ..the computer I always wanted.
