    Hello!

I am wondering if someone can build this CDXLPlay app for MorphOS?:
    http://www.a500.org/main-menu/projects/cdxlplay.xhtml

Seems like the sources is there. As I transfer things to my A1200 using my MorphOS machine, its handy to see CDXL videos before transfering them to my A1200.

Will PowerSDL for MorphOS be compatible with it?

    Hopes for something :)

Maybe you can use the CDXL datatype:

V.A.M.P. can play CDXL files according to https://morph.zone/modules/news/article_storyid_1975.html (I didn't try). Newer version is available at http://www.morguesoft.eu/Paginas/vamp.htm (although CDXL compatibility not mentioned there).

I guess so. Maybe it would be even possible to try porting the non-SDL version. I don't know whether the scaling/compositing routines are portable to MorphOS with no or few changes, though.

    Edit: corrected V.A.M.P. webpage URL

Ok. Do I need to use Frogger or does MPlayer support datatypes?

It would be nice with a GUI player.

    Neither supports datatypes.

    > It would be nice with a GUI player.

MorphOS' standard program for using datatypes is Multiview. This is one of many AmigaOS heritages.

I decided to give a try. I downloaded some cdxl anims from aminet and vamp. At the url given by andreas there are old versions, january 2014, of vamp. The right url now is http://www.morguesoft.eu/Paginas/Home.htm. So vamp handles this old anim format but what a small resolution it was.

Indeed. I corrected the URL in my posting. Thanks for pointing out.

    > january 2014

    March 2014 :-)

    > vamp handles this old anim format

Thanks for verifying. Does it use the cdxl.datatype or own code, i.e. can it play CDXL files also without cdxl.datatype installed?

It uses its own code. I do not have cdxl.datatype installed.

Really? That's fantastic. Four long-time MorphOS users in this thread and nobody of them knows this. What a shame ;-) Thanks for enlightening us.

I recompiled cdxlplayer for MorphOS but I get corrupted graphics and crashes. I could not figure out what the problem was so I created my own player with native GUI. It is on Aminet soon...

Was this with the SDL or non-SDL version?

It was with the SDL version. At that time I didnt even know the existence of non-SDL version.

I suspect it had something to do with OpenGL code (or how tinygl and SDL integrates with each other).
