Glad to hear that - hope it will introduce HP LaserJet 1000 series support.

Pampers has just posted 3.8 results for Radeon X1950 on SAM460ex
    http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?mode=viewtopic&topic_id=40078&forum=33&start=40&viewmode=flat&order=0#756465

So I would like to know any recommended Radeon X1950 cards and will 3d be fully supported?

Probably yes. It would be unlike the Team to release something missing such an important feature.

    Hi there!

When Sam460cr gets morphOS support - how large resolutions will be supported? I'm hoping for 2560*1440, since i need such a resolution to ease my development in Hollywood Designer.

Will this be possible with the supported gfx-cards? (if so, what gfx-card?)

    best regards

Hi, just to let you know, that you could already use such a resolution with a G5 and a Radeon 9600P with 256 MB Ram and it works fine under 2560*1440.

And you are right, doing development with Hollywood-Designer needs a big resolution ;-)

Well sure, and it will be near to perfect if it will possible to have support to animation gif images, and DCIM images.

At least DCIM images, so I could read my last X-RAYS tests directly fom MorphOS.

I will find interesting the opportunity of bypass PS: output in ALL] software, so I can print thru my USB Epson printer.

Well, as long as the developers (well, at least Pampers) are talking about it, the X19XX cards have been a target for awhile.

I still want full MIDI support, an update to CamD, that sort of thing and I'd be fanatical! :)

I just got my powermac back out of storage after almost 2 years... so I ammissing some updates. Does it now support the wificard in the minipcislot ( or how is that called ) ? Or in the next release ? Or never ?

No, the AirPort of your PowerMac3,4 is not supported. And it's nothing to do with Mini-PCI.

How about supporting the FireWire iSight Camera in the next release? This was very popular when these machines were new and the camera still fetches a pretty penny on eBay. I've kept mine all these years waiting for MorphOS support.

    :)

It still has a bigger iris then current built in iSight cameras.

I'm sure that will work. I currently use a resolution of 2560*1080 and my MacMini just has a Radeon 9200 wit 64 MB VRAM builtin....

For resolutions I would be happy if 4k displays would work then.

"How about supporting the FireWire iSight Camera in the next release?"

Would that offer any new feature in one of the discreetfx products that will never get public updates?

I was browsing for 4k monitors the other day (and info about them). Was thinking about buying one for my PC since prices are coming down. But I came to the conclusion that it's still a bit early. IMHO they are still somewhat ahead of their time. I'll wait for HDMI 2.0 and more importantly Display Port 1.3 to become wider spread than they are now (it will mean an upgrade of my graphics card to make most use of it). And by then prices will have come down even more and quality may have improved as well!

One more question comes to my mind. In a G5 we can only use Mac preparated graphics cards, right? If you buy one for x86 computers it will not work in a G5. But in the Sam 460 it seems to work because you can use new Radeons for 4k displays. Is this because Sam uses Uboot? Is there any chance that in G5 it will be possible to use "standard" graphics cards, too? Otherwise it will never be possible to use 4k monitors with a G5 because we can not flash them as Mac cards, right?

In fact, you can already use standard PC-BIOS/AtomBIOS equipped R5xx range AGP cards with AGP G5 models and MorphOS 3.8 but you definitely will lose the early OpenFirmware display and related boot screens.

Yes, it is because U-Boot contains an x86 emulator, which the PowerMac OpenFirmware does not. If you can do without OpenFirmware access, see Intuition's posting.
